Gymnasts place at state meet

LAPLACE – Two girls from Ivanov’s Gymnastics Academy in LaPlace competed at the LHSAA state gymnastics meet this past weekend at Baton Rouge High School.
Olga Ivanova, a freshman at St. Martin’s, placed third in the all-around inDivision I with a score of 36.30. Ivanova placed in all four events, including athird place finish on the bars with a 9.35. She also placed third on thebalance beam.
Sarah Thomas, a senior at Newman, placed 11th in the all-around in Division I with a score of 33.15. She will be heading to Syracuse University in the fallto compete in gymnastics.
Caddo won the team title with a score of 209.85. Host Baton Rouge wassecond with a 192.70. Denham Springs’ Lindsey Thompson won the all-aroundwith a 36.90, followed by Tara Poche of Ascension Catholic with a 36.90.
