Several teams participating in the Third Annual American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in St. John Parish will help shed the light on the fight againstcancer. At 9 p.m. May 6, approximately 3,000 luminaries will be lit at the JoeKeller Memorial Stadium. The luminary ceremony sponsored by St. JohnEnterprises is one of the most touching moments of the 12-hour event.

Luminaries may be purchased from team members for a small donation of $10 each.

Whether it’s a parent, sibling, friend or neighbor, we all know someone who has been touched by cancer. Relay for Life is one way of recognizing loved ones whoare surviving cancer and remembering those who have lost the battle. Aftersunset, the track is encircled with luminaries decorated with the names of those who have battled cancer. This ceremony of light symbolizes the hope andcourage with which we all continue to fight cancer.

Anyone would like to purchase a luminary at the St. John Parish Relay for Life orneed information about this year’s relay, can call Bobbie Zaidain at 652-5672.
