Single-car accident on Interstate 310 kills Houma man

LULING – A single-car accident early Friday resulted in the death of a Houma man on Interstate 310.
Ron P. McMurray, 38, 310 Richard, died as a result of injuries he suffered inthe 1:30 a.m. crash. He was a passenger in a 1998 Ford Explorer drivensouthbound on I-310 by Jesse B. Story, 22, 201 Smithwillow, Houma.Story told Louisiana State Trooper Steve Orgeron he glanced into the back seat at one of his passengers and accidently drove into the median.
Story then said he overcompensated and flipped the Explorer several times, ejecting himself and his two passengers. No one was wearing seat belts.McMurray was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:42 a.m.Story was transported to St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling for treatmentof his injuries, then moved to the parish jail in Hahnville where he was charged with driving while intoxicated, vehicular homicide, first-degree vehicular negligent injury and careless operation of a motor vehicle.
Melanie Dupre, 26, 4325 Ferrs Road, Bourg, sustained serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to East Jefferson Medical Center.
Blood test results are pending, according to State Police Troop B spokesman Kevin Cannatella.
