Elmejdoubi, Keim overcome wind to win Hale Boggs Run

LULING – Over 2,000 participants came out on a windy day Saturday to run in the fourth annual Orion Refining Corporation Hale Boggs Bridge Run from Destrehan to Luling.

Yousri Elmejdoubi, a former Southern Mississippi runner, crossed the finish line first in 15 minutes, 9 seconds. Bryan Smith was second in16:14, followed by Steven Peterson in 16:33.

For the second consecutive year, Sherrie Keim of Dodge, Texas, won the female division in 18:22. Isabelle Yanire was second in 18:47 with ShawnaJones coming in third in 19:21.

Junius Nixon won the Masters title in the male division in 17:08. FillisFriedman was first in the female division in 20:15. The Grand Masterstitle was won by J. Roger Brown for the men in 18:05 and Yvonne Thomasfor the women in 22:15.

Greg Bodet was the first Racewalker to finish, crossing the line in 27:54.

Connie McCloskey was the first female in 31:14. In the Masters division,Steve Attaya was first for the men in 28:10 and Lisa Pitre-Guevara was first for the women in 33:16. Randy Surratt was first in the Grandmastersdivision in 30:30. Denise Surratt won the women’s division in 31:15.
