More St. James football players sign

ST. JAMES – Five more St. James Wildcats are heading to the next level toplay football.

Defensive backs Cedric Vaughn, Jereal Dillon and Leondro Simon, tight end Alvin Bartholomew and defensive end Mayfield Joshua signed with the University of Arkansas-Monticello last week.

The five join quarterback Corey Webster, an LSU signee, and center Damon Oubre, who signed with Southern.

Vaughn was an all-District 9-3A first team and all-state honorable mention selection in 1999. He made 62 tackles, intercepted eight passes, caused twofumbles, recovered one and broke up seven passes.

Bartholomew caught 16 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns and was named second team all-District 9-3A and all-Metro. He made 30 tackles andintercepted a pass on defense.

As a kicker, Bartholomew was good on all five of his field goal attempts and 29 out of 39 extra point tries.

Dillon was a second-team all-District 9-3A selection at defensive back.

Joshua was an honorable mention all-District selection.
