ADAMS

NEW ORLEANS – Melvyn Joseph August, 76, a native of Vacherie and resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 29. He was the husband of Annie Mae Adams andfather of Berry Adams.

He was also the son of the late Timothy and Elizabeth Adams and brother of the late Hilda Donald and Wesley, Ishmael, Stanley and Herby Adams.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, NewOrleans, with interment at Providence Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitationstarts at 10 a.m.

AUGUST

HAHNVILLE – Clay “Red” August Jr., 73, a native of Killona and resident ofHahnville, died March 1. He was the husband of Joyce A. Byrd-August andfather of Julie Borden, Mary Williams, Debra Madere, Clayton, Bruce, R.J. andDarcey August, Charles Downing, Randall Donald and the late Clay Vincent August.

He was also the son of the late Clay Sr. and Sedonia Woods August andbrother of Georgiana Stipe, Irvin Mitchell and the late Mildred Mitchell.

He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 3 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, with interment at the church cemetery, Taft.

BALONEY

KILLONA – Effie Baloney, 53, a native of Killona and resident of Reserve, died Feb. 27. She was the wife of Joel Baloney and mother of Laverne, LaShawn,Melissa, Lois Ann, Jermin, Christopher, Kelvin, Dawn, John, Joel, Abraham, Kenneth, Paul and Denise Baloney and step-mother of Marie Baloney.

She was also the daughter of the late Abraham and Priscilla Jackson and sister of Ann Jupiter, Georgina Stipe, Dorothy Washington, Diana Williams, Bertrand Jackson and Bertha, Thomas and Johanan White.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Canaan Baptist Church, Killona, withinterment at Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

BRUNET

LAPLACE – Roger A. Brunet, 54, a native of Chalmette and resident ofLaPlace for 30 years, died Feb. 29. He was the father of Scott, Brandon andRhett Brunet.

He was also the son of Marie Even Brunet and the late Anthony Brunet and brother of Terrell, Bryan and Ronald Brunet.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were held March 2 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, withinterment at St. John Memorial Gardens.

DEMPSTER

VACHERIE – Leonise Rome Dempster, 89, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Feb. 28. She was the wife of the late Melford Dempster Sr. and motherof Mildred Tregre, Rosa Kliebert, Melodie Tregre, Velma Falgoust and Melford Dempster Jr.

She was also the daughter of the late Isaac and Victoria Rome and sister of Forsine Tregre, Gladys Thibodeaux and the late Ida Folse and Victorin Rome.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held March 2 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.

FRANCOIS

RESERVE – Isabella Davis Francois, 99, a native and resident of Reserve, died Feb. 28. She was the wife of the late Cornelius Francois Sr. and mother ofIsabelle Smith, Catherine White, William, Hilton and Ray Francois Sr. and thelate Cecile Frank, Dolores Howard and Cornelius Jr., Alfred and AnabelleFrancois.

She was also the daughter of the late Rome and Hartase Davis and sister of the late Leona Keller, Laura Rixner, Antonia Toney and Mack and Robert Parquet.

She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church,Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

GAUDET

LUTCHER – Fleurence M.T. Gaudet, 81, a native and resident of Paulina, diedMarch 2. She was the daughter of the late Paul Sr. and Corinne Laiche Gaudetand sister of Corinne Burke, Hazel Gaudet and the late Eunice DeArmond, Cecile Veron, Laurence Laurent and Paul Jr., Prentiss, Phyllis and Neil Gaudet.Services are today at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Chapel,Lutcher, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. Visitation startsat 8 a.m.

JOHNSON

MONTZ – Freddie Johnson Jr., 69, a resident of Montz, died Feb. 29. He wasthe husband of Mathilda Reynaud Johnson and father of Freddie III, Eddie, Viola, Audrey, Sherman, Roosevelt, Gary, Frederick, Sylvester, Sylvia, Tia Johnson and the late Hilton and Wilton Johnson.

He was also the son of the late Freddie Sr. and Ethel Davis Johnson andbrother of Ethel Lou Pradia.

He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church No. 2, Montz, withinterment at Montz Memorial Cemetery. Visitation starts at noon.

LAURENT

VACHERIE – Selina H. Laurent, 96, a native of Vacherie and resident ofThibodaux, died March 2. She was the wife of the late Henry Laurent.She was also the sister of Willie Harris. She was preceded in death by twobrothers and one sister.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church,Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 9a.m.

NARCISE

BOUTTE – Audrey Turner Narcise, 49, a resident of Luling, died Feb. 26. Shewas the wife of Calvin Narcise and mother of Henry and Angela Turner.

She was also the daughter of the late Albertine Turner Young and sister of Irma Drake, Leola Jackson, Andrew Turner and the late Albertine Hill and Willie Young Sr.

She is also survived by four grandchildren.

Services were held March 2 at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Boutte, withinterment at the church cemetery.

REVADER DES

ALLEMANDS – Isadora Revader, 63, a resident of Hahnville, died Feb. 24.She was the wife of Herman Revader Sr. and mother of Gwen Blackwell, LisaJones, Francine Williams, Stacey Benn and Jennifer, Lyndon and Herman Revader Jr.

She was also the daughter of August Sr. and Lucinda Nedd and sister ofIsabella Domiano, Adlene Deorason and Shirley, the Rev. Joseph, the Rev.James, Louis and the late Jesse and Melvin Nedd.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren.

She was president of the Deaconess Board at Antioch Baptist Church, Des Allemands.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, Des Allemands,with interment at Shell Mound Cemetery, Des Allemands.

RIVIERE

METAIRIE – Janice Rabalais Riviere, 52, a native of Dupont and resident of Destrehan for 15 years, died Feb. 29. She was the wife of Rodney Riviere andmother of Michelle Kemp, Travis Tucker, Debra Welborn, Cheryl Perry and Michael and Keith Riviere.

She was also the daughter of Wallace Rabalais and the late Rena Rabalais.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home,Metairie, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

STEIN

RESERVE – Henry J. Stein Sr., 94, a native of Vacherie and resident ofReserve for 52 years, died March 1. He was the husband of the late EvaMichel Stein and father of Mae Louque, Earline Vicknair and Norwood Sr.,Houston and Henry Stein Jr.

He was also the son of the late Louis and Elucia Stein and brother of Lena Montz and Elucia Duhe. He was preceded in death by four sisters and twobrothers.

He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He waspreceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Services are today at 9:45 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

WENZY

CONVENT – Donald Kendal Wenzy, 17, a native and resident of Convent, died Feb. 27. He was the son of John Sr. and Brenda Wenzy and brother of Marie,Felicia, Chad and John Wenzy Jr.

He was a student at Lutcher High School.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Convent,with interment at the church cemetery.
