Grant committee looking for hard workers

LAPLACE – District 6 Councilwoman Melissa Faucheux is looking for a few civic-minded hard workers who can help out the parish.
Faucheux is the chairperson of the Grants Committee that also includes St.
John the Baptist Parish Councilmen Lester Rainey, Job Boucvalt and Cleveland Farlough The purpose of the committee is find grant money to fund parish projects.
As an example, Faucheux has managed to locate online a grant that would help to partially fund the construction of the much-needed animal shelter.
According to Faucheux, who has looked for grants as an administrator for the St. John Parish School System, there is a lot of grant money out there,it is just a matter of time and effort to find it.
Faucheux said all members of the council would appoint members to the Grant Committee and eventually there would be nine working members who would get paid the standard $40 per meeting. Faucheux said the parishcouncil is looking for people who are computer literate and are real go- getters.
“We want people who will help us to find the money to help the parish,” said Faucheux.
