NOAH Boosters, Inc. announces that LaPlace Little League Baseball and NOAH Girls Softball will hold registration for ages 5-18 at the LaPlace Winn- Dixie, Saturday, March 11 from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. First time players mustbring copy of their birth certificate.

The Brett Boudreaux Memorial Tennis Tournament will held at Lutcher High School March 11-12. Starting time is 9 a.m. The wevents are as follows:men’s singles and doubles; ladies’ singles and doubles; and junior singles (boys and girls).

Participants may enter both singles and doubles. Entry fee is $25 for oneevent, $35 for two events. Entry forms are available at the school’s mainoffice. Forms must be completed and returned by March 3, 2000 with entryfee enclosed.

All matches will be pro set (eight games) until the semifinals which will be two out of three sets (12-point tie breaker). The draw will be available March 9.Trophies will be given for first and second place winners in each event.

Concessions will be sold at the Wescovich Tennis Complex at Lutcher High School both days. Pastalaya plate lunches to benefit the Lutcher High Schooltennis team will be sold beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 12. Cost is$4. The St. Charles Catholic Double Diamond Dance will be held in theschool’s gym, Saturday, March 18, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.Music will be provided by Bits N’ Pieces. A dinner will be served. There will bea $5,000 grand prize along with a $1,000 cash give-a-way and tremendous door prizes.

The cost is $50 per couple. Contact Frank Monica at the high school at 652-3029.

The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Hunter Education Division will be conducting an instructor course March 20-22 at the St. CharlesParish Fraternal Order of Police Building on River Road from 6-10 p.m. eachnight.

The Larayo Mixed League Cabbageball Tournament will be held Saturday, March 25.

The cost is $100 per team. A limited number of teams will be permitted.Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Winners will receive a T-shirtand have the entry fee returned. The St. Charles Catholic High School Varsity Alumni is sponsoring amixed cabbageball tournament April 30 on the St. Charles Catholic campus.The cost of registration is $75. LSU baseball players and coaches will conduct instructional clinics through April at the facilities of youth baseball organizations. The clinics areoffered as a community service to players seeking to improve their skills.

The baseball clinics feature LSU players and coaches offering instruction in all facets of the game, including hitting, pitching and fielding.

Youth baseball groups wishing to schedule a clinic should call the LSU baseball office at (225) 388-4148. Available clinic dates are limited, however, LSU willaccommodate as many requests as possible.

Applications are now being evaluated by the Ten Star All-Star Basketball Camp. Boys and girls ages 7-19 can apply. Players are selected by invitationonly. Past participants include Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter,Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley, Antawn Jamison, Christian Laettner, Tom Gugliotta and Trajan Langdon.

Camp locations include Atlanta; Riverside, Calif.; Babson Park, Fla.;Champagne, Ill., Fort Wayne, Ind.; Atchison, Kan.; Georgetown, Ky.; Northfield,Minn.; Raleigh, N.C.; Boiling Springs, N.C.; Rochester, N.Y.; North Canton, Ohio;Commerce, Texas; and Farmville, Va. College basketball scholarships arepossible for the most advanced players.

The Junior Achievement Golf Sampler Card allows area golfers to drive the fairways at 12 of the local golf courses.

The Golf Sampler Card is $39 and entitles the cardholder to play a total of 49 rounds of golf among the participating courses – Audubon, Bayou Barriere, Colonial, Colonial Acres, Eastover, Ellendale, Lakewood, Oak Harbor, Ormond, Pinewood, Stonebridge and Timberlane. Supporters of the gold cardwill also receive a complimentary Junior Achievement golf towel. The card isvalid from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2000.Proceeds from the Golf Sampler Card benefit Junior Achievement’s K-12 in- school free enterprise programs. This year alone, Junior Achievement and its900 volunteers will teach more than 25,000 local students in over 140 schools about the relevance of education to the workplace and to prepare them for lifelong learning.

Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St.

Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free. The vehiclewill be recycled into the funds needed to support the year-round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally-retarded children and adults in Louisiana.

Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title.

Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction as the fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
