More than $50,000 in arts funding awarded in River Parishes

HOUMA – The Houma-Terrebonne Arts and Humanities Council granted art funding totaling $50,730 to 19 non-profit organizations throughout the River Parishes to support art and cultural programs from January through September 2000.

St. Charles Parish organizations received a total of $21,312.The River Region Drama Guild received two grants for $2,100 and $3,000.

The St. Charles Art Guild received two grants for $1,405 and $1,006. TheSt. Charles Performing Arts Council received two grants for $309 and$2,100. The River Road Historical Society received a grant for $2,030, andthe River Region Ballet received two grants of $3,000 and $700.

In addition, Norco Elementary received a $1,530 grant, St. Charles BorromeoElementary received a $2,100 grant and the St. Charles Parish Libraryreceived a $2,032 grant.

St. James Parish organizations received $10,067.The St. James Parish Public Schools Talent Program received a $3,000grant. The St. James School Board receved a $3,000 grant, the St. JamesParish 4-H Foundation received a $2,003 grant and the St. James ParishCouncil received a $2,034 grant.

St. John the Baptist Parish organizations received $19,351.The St. John Theatre received a $2,610 grant, West St. John Elementaryreceived two grants for $2,518 and $2,686, the St. Peter CatholicCommunity received a $2,443 grant, St. Peter School received a $1,028grant and Our Lady of Grace School received a $1,094 grant.
