Have you ever said that you forgive someone, but every time you see that person your blood boils? This is a sure sign that you haven’t exercised true forgiveness.
God’s will is for us to live at peace with one another. This, however is impossiblewithout God’s help. You see, we are fleshly beings and it is our flesh that could tellus it’s OK to stay angry. We have to admit our unforgiveness to God and ask him tohelp us to overcome our flesh.
The old saying “I can forgive, but I’ll never forget” is very true. When you’ve beenreally hurt by someone, chances are you won’t ever forget what happened. But,you must realize that God does have the power to heal that hurt. Even if you feellike the feelings of anger you have could never be changed, God can change them.
He wants to because he knows how much they tear you up. The Bible says when Hedied on the cross he bore every pain and all the grief that we might experience. So,even though he may not have physically been through our exact situation, he knows exactly how we feel.
So today, let go of your bitterness and unforgiveness; give it to God. Believe thatwhen you pray for Him to change your heart it will happen. After all, unforgivenessis like a prison that will keep you bound up as long as you let it. God’s desire is foryou to be free, so take the first step and give it to God. Let him deal with it,because he’s the only one who can.
