Betty Jean and Roy Edwin Othold of LaPlace recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an affirmation of wedding vows at the church where they married – Trinity Lutheran Chapel in Victoria, Texas, on Nov.

19, 1949.

The officiant was the Rev. Brian Gigee, who was their pastor for nine anda half years at Grace Lutheran Church in New Orleans.

Hosting the celebration were Betty Jean and Roy Othold and their children, with a reception at the Plaza Club.

Their children are Roy Kip Othold, Clay Alan Othold and Becky Jean Othold Del Rio. They also have six grandchildren.The Otholds moved to Louisiana in November 1963. Roy retired from E.I.DuPont in 1985, and Betty retired from the United States Postal Service in 1990.
