Laque has names ready for appointment

HAHNVILLE – The first item of business for newly-inaugurated Parish President Albert Laque at Tuesday’s St. Charles Parish Council meetingwill be confirmation of appointments.
Laque has made nominations for parish attorney, public works director and port commissioner and re-nominated the present emergency operations director and economic development director.
Paul “Joey” Murray, presently Laque’s transition director and a nominee of the New Orleans-Baton Rouge Steamship Pilots Association, is being appointed to the South Louisiana Port Commission. The nomination, aftercouncil approval, also requires confirmation by the Louisiana Senate.
Hahnville attorney Robert Raymond has been nominated as parish attorney and Michael Stamps, currently assistant public works director in Jefferson Parish, has been nominated as public works/wastewater director.
Corey Faucheux, now the economic development director, and Tab Troxler, now the emergency operations director, are seeking council confirmation of their re-appointment.
Other appointments by the council also fill the agenda, three to the New Orleans Aviation Board’s Noise Abatement Committee and one to the parish’s Library Board of Control.
Additional parish business round out the Tuesday agenda, including approval of a $1.7 million construction contract for the 80-Arpent Canalpump station improvements with Bartlett Construction Inc.
