BRUNO MARRERO – Joseph S. Bruno Sr., 80, a native of LaPlace and resident ofMarrero for 25 years, died Jan. 2. He was the husband by first marriage ofthe late Mercedes Oubre and by second marriage of the late Marian Landry Bruno and father of Bonnie Shapiro, Linda Kelly and Holly, Sidney, Byron and Joseph Bruno Jr.

He was also the son of the late James and Josephine Petrolio Bruno and brother of Lena Daniels and the late Sandy Quatroy, Anna Newchurch and Gregory, Charlie and Santa Maria Bruno.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home,Marrero, with interment at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

GRAUGNARD ST. JAMES – Antoine Fortune Graugnard Jr., 83, a native and resident of St.James, died Jan. 2. He was the husband of Mary Ann Delaune Graugnard andfather of Anne Bourg, Denise St. Pierre and Susan Melvin.He was also the son of the late Fortune and Denise Schexnayder Graugnard and brother of the late Mabel Deas, Annette Rodrigue, Edmae Schexnayder, Aline Henderson, Richard Schexnayder and Eugene, Marcel and James Graugnard.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Hewas prececed in death by one grandchild.

In 1944, with Michael Schexnayder, he organized a cooperative sugar mill in St. James Parish and, the following year, was appointed president andgeneral manager of St. James Sugar Co-Op, a position he held for morethan 30 years.

A former state representative, he also served as chairman of the Farm Credit Board, president of American Sugar Cane League and American Society of Sugar Cane Technologists, general chairman of International Society of Sugar Cane Technologists, chairman of Louisiana Council of Farmer Co-Operatives, president of Louisiana Sugar Exchange, St. JamesSugar Exchange and St. James Farm Bureau and a director of SouthLouisiana Production Credit Association.

Services were held Jan. 4 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, withinterment in the church cemetery.

LANDRY PARADIS – Rose Badeaux Landry, 52, a native and resident of Bayou Gauche, died Dec. 29. She was the wife of Larry Landry Sr. and mother ofRose Orgeron and Lana Vu, Larry Jr. and Robert Landry.She was also the daughter of Earline Dufrene Badeaux and the late Adam Badeaux Sr. and sister of Earline Dufrene and Adam Jr., Willie, Wayne,Rickey, Lester and the late Timmy Badeaux.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 31 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,Paradis, with interment at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche.

LAROUSSE NORCO – Wilton F. Larousse Sr., 67, a native of Lockport and resident ofNorco for 45 years, died Dec. 30. He was the husband of Earline VicknairLarousse and father of Wilton Jr. and Ronald Larousse.He was also the son of the late Joseph and Louisiana Larousse and brother of Rita Deslattes and Nilton, Venton and Benton Larousse.

He is also survived by six grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 3 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco,with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

LUDWIG METAIRIE – George Earl “Moo” Ludwig, 74, a native of New Orleans, former resident of Des Moines, Iowa, for 30 years, and resident of Luling for 13 years, died Dec. 31. He was the husband of Ruby Wood Ludwig and father ofGlenda Devine.

He was also the son of the late Theodore Sr. and Ellenora Schlosser Ludwigand brother of Leatrice Mason, Fay Ludwig and the late Theodore Jr. andLouis Ludwig.

He is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 4 in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home,Metairie, with interment at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines.

McINERNEY KENNER – Shirley Cook McInerney, 74, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Rose for 21 years, died Dec. 31. She was the wife of the late AlexDaniel McInerney and mother of Linda Boesch and Rose Kelly.

She was also the daughter of the late John and Louise Jacob Cook and sister of Myrtle Lehmann and the late Alvina Brodman, Adele Schirm, Olivia Grosch and Albertha, Viola, Frederick, Johnny, Charles, Joseph and Frank Cook.

She is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services are today at noon in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen Funeral Home,Kenner, with interment at Valence Street Cemetery. Visitation starts at10 a.m.

MICHELL GRETNA – Rose B. Michell, 82, a native of Burton (St. James Parish) andresident of Gretna, died Dec. 31. She was the wife of the late Joseph”Pitt” Michell and mother of Karen Miller and Dale and Errol Michell.

She was also the daughter of the late Thomas and Daisy E. Olano Barbayand sister of Delores Guarino and the late Daisy Allen and Frank, William and Floyd Barbay.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 3 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gretna,with interment at Hook and Ladder Cemetery, Gretna.

SANDERS EDGARD – Hattie Washington Sanders, 80, a native of Edgard and resident of Reserve, died Dec. 31. She was the wife of the late Harry Sanders Sr.,mother of Ruby Griffin, Harry Jr. “Billy,” Rosiland, Michael and DavidSanders and the late Ora Lee Jack and Leroy Sanders Sr. and step-motherof Mable Sandy.

She was also the daughter of the late Emile and Harriet Washington and sister of Rose Bolden, Veola Searcy, Emile Washington and the late Semoria Rainey, Yvonne Brignac, Hazel August and Cecile, Thelma, Emma, Maude and Albert Washington.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Edgard,with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

VICKNAIR LAPLACE – John L. “Vic” Vicknair Jr., 79, a native and resident of LaPlace,died Dec. 31. He was the husband of the late Marie Hutchinson Vicknair andfather of Deborah Hudson, Lisa White, John L. “Johnny” and John PaulVicknair and the late Robin Ann Vicknair.

He was also the son of the late John L. and Marie Keller Vicknair andbrother of Carol BeBautte, Lazinna Guidry, Carmen Wilson, Alice Schultz, Lois Saucier, Jean “Buddy” Vicknair and the late Rosemary Madere.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 4 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home,LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

WILSON AMA – Mayola Friloux Wilson, 81, a native of Ama and resident of Ontario, Canada, died Dec. 29. She was the wife of the late Christopher Wilson andmother of Marilyn Cooper and Deyonne Kimble.

She was also the daughter of the late Edward and Estelle Toups Friloux and sister of Delores White and Allison Friloux. She was preceded in death bytwo sisters and one brother.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Ama,with interment at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery, Ama. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

YOUNG GRAMERCY – Mary Young, 91, a native of Burnside and a resident of Lutcher, died Jan. 1. She was the mother of the late Ada Martin.She was also the daughter of the late Milton and Octavia Braxton Young and sister of the late Albert Young Sr.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Golden Grove Baptist Church, Gramercy,with interment at St. James United Methodist Church Cemetery, Convent. Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m.
