LAPLACE – The East St. John Lady Cats volleyball team celebrated itsaccomplishments of the 1999 season at its annual team banquet at Bull’s Corner Restaurant Wednesday afternoon.

“We had a great meal and friends and family who helped out during the season came out to celebrate with us,” head coach Toni Robinet said.

Danielle Washington was named the team’s best offensive player and was recognized for making first team all-District 6-I.

Artrena Radcliffe received the best defensive player award and Sandy Shields was honored with the Coaches Award.

Takiyah Joseph was also recognized for being named second team all- district as was Theresa Cambre. Cambre, the team’s lone senior, was alsohonored with a varsity letter.

Cambre was with the team for four years. In that time, the Lady Cats wontwo district titles and advanced to the state tournament twice. She saidwinning those titles and being named to the all-district team were the memories she will remember the most.

“There’s been plenty of ups and downs but it’s been fun,” Cambre said.

“It’s been kind of like my family. I’m going to miss it.”And while this season was not as successful as the past two, Robinet said a lot of positives still came out of it.

“We learned a lot,” Robinet, who lost the bulk of last year’s squad, said.

“We knew going in it was going to be a transitional season. There wasgoing to be a lot for them to learn and we were putting in a new offense.

I’m looking forward to next season. We lose one senior and returneverybody else.”Team members for 1999 were Kendra Adams, Bethany Condrell, Lindsey Caronna, Artrena Radcliffe, Takiyah Joseph, Jennifer Tamburo, Lyndsey Guidry, Danielle Washington, Jennie De-Bowes, Sandy Shields, Laura Tregre and Theresa Cambre.
