The holiday spirit has gripped the River Parishes, as shoppers flock to local businesses, boosting sales and employment, and keeping tax revenue local.
What? You’re not doing that? Think again. Money spent locally stays localand boosts programs in the public schools and government. They need thismoney to do their jobs, so support local businesses while you prepare for the holidays.
Local events are also on tap to help make the Christmas season not only festive but spiced with our own cultural flavor.
In St. Charles Parish, the Rotary Club will again sponsor their tree-lighting, caroling and Santa visit on Thursday evening, starting at 6 p.m.In St. James Parish, the Festival of the Bonfires erupts into action Fridaynight in Lutcher with the Knights of Columbus and continues all weekend.
In St. John Parish, though, renovation work at the courthouse andcourthouse annex have curtailed plans for a local celebration of the season.
Therefore, we hope people will enjoy the other events, keep themselves sober to enjoy it better, and bring the children.
