DEAR EDITOR: It’s time not only to take stock, but to recommit ourselves to what is good and helpful, and finish strong. The Lord has blessed us in so many ways, and we need to reunite with our families and devote more time to serving others as well.

While there is so much for us as a growing community to celebrate, there are also too many disturbing issues to worry us. As a community, we seemto have lost our way. People are confused and frustrated, the crime, breakdown of families, general loss of faith, the system, poverty, drugs and alcohol. The list goes on. The real problems lie deep within each of us.The gradual erosion of values, the moral and spiritual roots of our foundation.

I think of all the noble intention and good ideas, but we must stop, and have some resolution, a plan of action for the growth and stability, for it to amount to anything of value. In a way, that’s where I think, asindividuals, in terms of our personal values. We have to strive forspiritual progress, and unite in our community to support such a growing need of those who lost their way, and need the guidance from the dark into the lighted path to understand.

It’s not for me to prescribe a list of values that, if embraced by everyone, will put all back on course. But I do hope to make you, the community, think about what really matters most to you, those beliefs and values that you know are right – and encourage you to stay true to them, and then take action upon them in support. Together, we must not fail in this task if weare to survive as a community.

I am an optimist, and believe in you. The majority of our community aregood people who desire to make this community a better place for our children and ourselves to grow and live. I have not given up. Rather, I hopefor compassion, and have confidence that we, as a community united, can restore balance in life and support in my effort to achieve the goals for our community.

We know what is right.
