BATISTE HAHNVILLE Olevia Mae “Sue Sue” Wilson Batiste, 60, a native of Hahnville and a resident of Waggaman for five years, died Sept. 17. Shewas the wife of the late Wilbert James Batiste and mother of Crystal Jusu and Shanall Paul, Darvin, Arlene and Ralph Quinn Sr.
She was also the daughter of Florence Wilson and the late Raymond Wilson Jr. and sister of Oveder Joseph, Shirley Randall and Elton, Curtis, Aaron Sr.and the late Vervin Wilson.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at Philadelphia Baptist Church,Hahnville, with interment at Bethlehem Cemetery, Hahnville. Visitation starts at 10a.m.
CALI LAPLACE Norman J. Cali, 75, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Sept.21. He was the husband of Lucille Bienvenu Cali and father of NormaSchexnayder and Jack Cali.
He was also the brother of Josephine Guarino, Frances Jacob, Laura Pfefferle, Johnny Cali, the late Jennie Lemoine, Mary Accardo, Rose Terry and Nat and Mike Cali.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 23 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home,LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.
EVERHARDT CHALMETTE Frances Miano Everhardt, 73, a native of Garyville and a resident of Chalmette for 49 years, died Sept. 20. She was the mother ofJoAnn, Debra, Lloyd and Leonard Everhardt.
She was also the sister of Frank Miano.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 21 in the chapel of All Faiths Funeral Home,Chalmette, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.
LUMAS GRETNA Clarence J. “Frenchie” Lumas, 86, a native of Vacherie and aresident of Marrero for 55 years, died Sept. 20. He was the husband of Lorine Lumas and father of Jessie Felix, Stella Thompson, Mary Rogers and Joseph Lumas.
He was also the brother of Cora Walker.
He is also survived by 49 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 30 in the chapel of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home,Gretna, with private burial.
MASSEL LAPLACE Lisa Miller Massel, 41, a native and resident of Reserve, died Sept. 20. She was the mother of Christian J. Massel.She was also the daughter of Alton and Arlene Miller and sister of Keith and Mitchell Miller.
Services were held Sept. 22 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home,LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
NICHOLSON LAPLACE Warren Nicholson, 53, a native and resident of Reserve, died Sept. 19. He was the son of Lucy Alexander Nicholson and the late AustinNicholson and the brother of Augustine Dorris and Ethelene, Lillian Marie, Rodney and Ervin Nicholson.
Services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Vision Missionary BaptistChurch, LaPlace, with interment at Bethlehem Cemetery, Reserve. Visitationstarts at 10 a.m.
SCHMIDT HAHNVILLE Alice “Dimples” Charbonnet Schmidt, 88, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Hahnville for 30 years, died Sept. 22. She wasthe wife of the late Charles J. Schmidt.She was also the daughter of the late Louis and Anna Martin Charbonnet and sister of the late Louis and J.B. Charbonnet.She was a retired principal of Luling Elementary School and a St. CharlesSchool System employee for more than 40 years.
Services were held Sept. 24 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary CatholicChurch, Hahnville, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
WILTZ VACHERIE Clinton Joseph Wiltz, 48, a native of Wallace and a resident of Vacherie, died Sept. 20. He was the husband of Rona Borne Wiltz and fatherof Onika Wiltz and step-father of Drenell Lumar.
He was also the son of the late Adlus Sr. and Leaboria Clark Wiltz andbrother of Ida Mae Evans, Doris Frazier, Eunice, Adlus “Buster” Jr. andMelvin Wiltz and the late Velma Dumas.
Services were Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Vacherie, withinterment at St. Phillip Catholic Cemetery, Vacherie. Visitation starts atnoon.
