Lady Cats serve up win against West St. John in three games

RESERVE – East St. John served seven aces in the third game to defeatWest St. John, 15-11, 6-15, 15-2, Thursday afternoon.Serves had been a problem through the first two games for East St. Johnwith the Lady Cats making eight service errors. But the Lady Catsimproved in the third game with only one service error.
Danielle Washington tied the game at one with a kill on the Lady Cats’ first serve. Theresa Cambre then served four straight aces before the LadyRams called a timeout with the score 5-1. After the break, LindseyCaronna delivered a cross court kill to make it a 6-1 game.
Three serves later, the Lady Cats increased their lead to 12-1 on two aces by Caronna and three West St. John errors. Another ace by Jennie DeBowesmade it 13-1. After West St. John scored its second point on a East St.John error, a dig by Cambre and a wide shot by the Lady Rams gave the Lady Cats the match.
West St. John had tied the match at a game apiece in the second game.DeBowes gave the Lady Cats a 1-0 lead with an ace before three East St.
John errors and an ace by Janell Morris gave the Lady Rams a 4-1 advantage.
East St. John tied the game at 4 on three straight aces by Cambre beforethe Lady Rams ran off 10 straight points. Four errors by the Lady Cats andan ace by Lacey Bailey made it 9-4 before East St. John called a timeout.An ace by Kimiko Gauthier brought the lead to 14-4.
East St. John pulled to within 14-6 on a dink by Takiyah Joseph and anWest St. John error. But West St. John got the game point three serveslater on an ace by Bailey.
The Lady Cats grabbed a 3-1 lead early in the match on a dink by Jennifer Tamburo and an ace by Washington. West St. John bounced back, goingahead 7-3 on two aces by Kita Harry, an ace by Ireon Bethancourt and a dink by Gauthier.
East St. John came right back on its ensuing serve. Washington opened an8-0 run with three straight aces. After two West St. John errors and anace by Washington, the Lady Rams called a timeout with the score 9-7.
Washington delivered two more aces after the break to make it a four- point game.
West St. John pulled to within two on its next serve on a block by Morrisand an ace down the baseline by Gauthier.
The Lady Rams tied the game three serves later behind a kill by Harry and a Lady Cat error.
East St. John regained the lead on its next serve on an ace by Cambre.After three service breaks, a dink by Tamburo and a West St. John errormade it game point. Caronna then served an ace for the game winner.
