BASTIAN NEW ORLEANSEdward J. “Terry” Bastian, 80, a native of Wallace and aresident of New Orleans, died Aug. 22. He was the husband of MildredMoore Bastian, father of the late Theresa Braud Morrison Wright and step- father of the late Mary Theresa Morrison.
He was also the son of the late Louis and Eva Harris Bastian and brother of Althea Adams, Jenola Johnson, Floriska Joseph and Elnora, Eva, Louis and Albert Bastian.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
He was the owner of Terry’s Inn for more than 25 years. In 1984, hereceived an award for outstanding volunteer for the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Services were Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church,New Orleans, with interment at Metairie Cemetery. Visitation starts at 8a.m.
DUKES BOUTTEJohnnie Gorden Dukes, 38, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Boutte for 26 years, died Aug. 21. She was the wife of Teddy Dukes andmother of Iesha Cameron and Jazmine Gordon.
She was also the daughter of Ellie Gorden Palmer and Curtis Smith, the sister of Lintla, Troy, Bobbie, Robert and the late Percy Gorden and the step-sister of Cherlyn, Charlotte, Curtis Jr., Carl and Clayton Smith.She is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at noon at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Boutte, withinterment at St. Mary Cemetery, Boutte. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.
GEORGE NORCOVirginia W. George, 64, a native of Abingdon, Va., and a residentof Norco for six years, died Aug. 24. She was the wife of the late Murray J.George and mother of Jeanne Bourque, Wanda Angeron and Dana George.
She was also survived by 10 brothers and sisters and was preceded in death by one brother.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 27 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home,Norco, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.
GUIDO ST. ROSESarah J. Guido, 68, a native of Birmingham, Ala., and a residentof St. Rose for 20 years, died Aug. 24. She was the mother of RebeccaFontenot and Jack and Stephen Zimmerman.
She was also the daughter of the late Clayborne Lee and Winnie Leland Crumpton and sister of Spear Gardner, Nell Burcham and John, Ray Edward, Carliss and Terry Lee Max.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of St.Rose.
NICHOLAS NORCOAnatole Nicholas, 40, a native of Taft and a resident of Destrehan, died Aug. 22. He was the husband of Terilyn Eden Nicholas andfather of Ashley Nicholas.
He was also the son of Dorothy Borne and the late Harry “Mye” Nicholas Sr., and brother of Darlene Thompson and Harry Jr., Horace and GeorgeNicholas.
Services were held Aug. 26 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home,Norco.
ORY LAPLACEEsther Bourgeois Ory, a native and resident of Garyville, died Aug. 26. She was the mother of George Ory.She was also the daughter of the late George and Pulcherie Chenet Bourgeois and sister of Leonie Bourgeois.
She is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Millet-GuidryFuneral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m.
SANDERS RESERVEAllen “Jap” Sanders, 68, a native and resident of Garyville, died Aug. 19. He was the father of Andrew Sanders and Timothy Fobb.He was also the son of the late William and Lena Sanders; the step-son of Clarence Fobb Sr.; and brother of Willie and Alma Sanders, Clarence FobbJr., Carolyn Mason and the late Algur Sanders, George Fobb Sr. and WilliamSanders.
He was also the companion of Velma Earl.
Services were Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church,Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Rosary starts at9:30 a.m.
STEWART HAHNVILLERena Josephua Stewart, 88, a native and resident of Killona, died Aug. 22. She was the wife of the late Willie Stewart and mother ofLucinda Jackson and Alice St. Pierre.She was also the daughter of the late Mary Jones and Alex Jupiter and sister of the late Brisco Simms, Myrtle Taylor, Raymond and Alfred Martin and Leon Jupiter.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 27 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hahnville, withinterment at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft.
UNTEREINER LAPLACEDonald George Untereiner, 60, a native of Marrero and a resident of LaPlace for 34 years, died Aug. 25. He was the husband of LoisChampagne Untereiner and father of Rae McMurry, Kay Peppo and Sue Untereiner.
He was also the son of the late Ernest and Catherine Hoppe Untereiner and brother of Norma Elliot, Irene Richard, Clair Bauer, Betty Gilbert, Frank and Lester Untereiner and the late Ernest Untereiner Jr.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Millet-Guidry FuneralHome, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
WILLIAMS MARREROEsther Mae Harry Williams, 59, a native of St. James Parishand a resident of Marrero, died Aug. 21. She was the mother of PatriciaGrogen and Cynthia, Tammy, Dionne, Tara, Darnell, DeMond and Tommie Lee Williams Jr.
She was also the sister of Anita and Eva Batiste and Milton Sr. and HerbertHarry.
She is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church,Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9a.m.
WOODS MADISON, Ind.Linda Diane Taylor Woods, 45, a native of Trimble County,Ky., a resident of LaPlace for 11 years and a resident of Madison, Ind., forone year, died Aug. 23. She was the wife of John R. Woods and mother ofAdrienne and Angela Woods.
She was also the daughter of G.W. and Edna Harmon Taylor and sister ofConnie Stockdale and Terry, Gary and Ronnie Taylor.
She was owner-operator of two Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in LaPlace.
Services were held Aug. 26 in the chapel of Morgan-Webster-Nay FuneralHome, Madison, Ind., with interment at Fairmount Cemetery, Madison, Ind.
