Mothers convocation is Saturday

LAPLACE – The WCKW-1010 AM Gospel staff is presenting its second annual Mothers Pressing in Prayer Convocation Saturday at New Home Full Gospel Ministry at its new location at 612 Main Street.
The theme for this year’s convocation is “Praise Before Battle – Going Into the New Millennium with Victory.”The host pastor is Steve Allen with Bishop Robert Blake the overseer. Theguest speaker for the program, back by popular demand, is prophetess Sandy Archangel of the Believers Family Worship Center in New Iberia. Themusic ministry will be provided by Kajah Musicland led by the minister Brian Lewis. Food will be provided by Family Ties Kitchen and Catering ofLaPlace. Mother’s attire will be provided by Mary Anne’s SophisticatedStyle.
Other special guests are pastor Bonnie Wiley of Baton Rouge, evangelist Brenda Taylor of the BLT Teaching Ministry, Claudette Aubert of the Word Teaching Ministries and many others. The Rev. Carla Watson will be themoderator with minister Gayle Preston the assistant coordinator.
The program begins at 5:30 a.m. with a Morning Glory meditation followedby intercessory prayers and testimonies at 6:30 a.m. Praise and worshipwill be held at 8 a.m.Classes begin at 9 a.m. with a class for pastor’s wives and one for wivesof ministers, evangelists and deacons. A class will be held for weddedmothers and another for mothers in waiting (those waiting to be married or expecting a child). A class will be held for mothers in called ministriesfor those that are preachers, teachers and evangelists. A class for youngmothers called “Babies Having Babies” will be held. Finally, there is a”You’re So Special” class for those women who have been mothers to others.
Darnetta Nelson, station manager for WCKW-1010, said last year’s convocation, titled “Proclaiming the Year Jubilee,” was a success. Over300 mothers and women attended the program.
“Many were blessed with great testimonies last year,” Nelson said.
