Man arrested after shooting in Reserve

RESERVE- A verbal argument in Reserve Friday morning resulted in a shooting and an arrest for attempted second-degree murder.

According to St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a callfrom a resident on N.W. Third Street in Reserve saying that a man in a bluepickup truck had just shot another man.

When deputies arrived on the scene they found Arnold Kiersey laying in the street with a bullet wound to his leg. He was in such pain that he could nottalk to the deputies, but witnesses gave a good description of the suspect truck.

Four minutes later deputies found the truck stopped at the traffic light at Airline and Carrollwood. Deputies blocked off the truck and took thesuspect, Robert L. Traywick, into custody. They also recovered a .357revolver on the front seat of the truck.

Traywick was charged with attempted second-degree murder.

According to the victim’s mother, Shirley Kiersey, Traywick came to her house, started an argument with her and told her she could not leave her home. Under the pretext of taking out the garbage, Mrs. Kiersey made herway to son’s house several doors down from her on N.W. Third Street.Shetold her son about Traywick. Kiersey went out to confront Traywick,another argument ensued and Traywick allegedly shot Kiersey in the leg and then took off in his truck.

When deputies arrived, they called the ambulance. Kiersey was taken toRiver Parishes Hospital, treated and released.

Traywick is still in custody at St. John Parish Jail.
