CARMOUCHE DESTREHAN – Gladys Mae Badeaux Carmouche, 69, a native and resident of Destrehan, died July 27. She was the mother of Joan Bird, Jean Aucoin,Robin Priest and Irvin Jr., Barry, Larry and the late Michael Carmouche.She was also the daughter of Gladys P. Badeaux and the late Lolan J.Badeaux Sr. and sister of Laverne Pecora and the late Lolan Badeaux Jr.She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 29 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church,Destrehan, with interment at the church cemetery.
CHAMPAGNE HAHNVILLE – Oliver L. Champagne, 92, a native of Taft and a resident ofNew Orleans for three years, died July 27. He was the husband of the lateLeana C. Champagne and father of the late Shirley Mae Champagne.He was also the son of the late Varise and Pauline Champagne and brother of Helen Markey, Leontine Edgerson and Mathilda Matthews.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 30 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, with interment at the church cemetery in Taft.
COLEMAN ALGIERS – Everlena “CC” Martin Coleman, 75, a native of St. James and aresident of Gretna for more than 50 years, died July 23. She was themother of Barbara Ann Beck and Raymond, Louis, Eddie, Herbert and Junious Coleman.
She was also the sister of Ceola Temple, Margaret Williams, Martha Domino, Mable Edwards, Agnes Temple and Mary Charles.
She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 1 p.m. at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church,Algiers, with interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gretna. Visitation starts at11 a.m.
DUHE GRAMERCY – Iris Brignac Duhe, a native and resident of Gramercy, died July 27. She was the wife of the late Cary Joseph Duhe Sr. and mother ofLana Louque, Corinne Beasley and Cary, Perry and Brian Duhe.
She was also the daughter of the late Charles and Minerva Pollet Brignac and sister of Winnie Gueret, Ethel Martin, Donna Berthelot and Winston, Percy and the late Jerry Brignac.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.
DUHE RESERVE – Lee Andrew “Prim” Duhe, 53, a native of Reserve and a resident of Long Beach, Calif., died July 21. He was the husband of Brenda PidgeonDuhe and father of Erin, Kellie and Ashlee Duhe.
He was also the son of Jules Duhe and Rosetta Smith and brother of Edward Baker, Michael Jackson, Anthony Morgan, Ruth Parks and Jeanette Jackson.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Services were held July 29 at Beech Grove Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.
GAUTHREAUX HAMMOND – Joseph Norman “Joey” Gauthreaux III, 24, a native of Metairie, former resident of Hammond and resident of Des Allemands, died July 26.
He was the husband of Mildred Osborne Gauthreaux and father of Nathan and Paige Gauthreaux.
He was also the son of Joseph Gauthreaux and Pamela Buras Osborne, the step-son of Plummie Methvien Gauthreaux and Jack Osborne and brother of Jennifer, Robert and Noel Gauthreaux and James Jones.
He was also the grandson of Ellen DiNapolis and the late Frederick Buras, Joseph Sr. and Ann Mary Rome Gauthreaux.Services were held July 29 in the chapel of Harry McKneely Funeral Home, Hammond, with interment at James Chapel Cemetery.
GRAY NORCO – Albertine C. “Bat” Gray, 72, a native of LaPlace and resident ofNorco for 50 years, died July 26. She was the wife of Albert Gray Sr. andmother of Marvel Bennett, Gezel McGill and Albert Jr., Patrick, Kerry Sr.and David Gray.
She was also the sister of Louviana Hickman, Aldonia Francois, Laura Alexander, Barbara Johnson, Dottie Jackson, Johnny Creecy, Carmen Holland, Leland Sr., Michael and Myron Creecy, the late Evelyn Thomas,Alberta Pyor, Mary Wilson, Rosalee Creecy and James, Clifford and Eddie “Buck” Creecy.
She was also survived by 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norco, withinterment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan. Visitation startsat 9 a.m.
JOHNSON EDGARD – Oden “Nick” Johnson, 63, a native and resident of Edgard, died July 26. He was the husband of Gloria Johnson and father of RendaRoussell.
He was also the son of Oden Sr. and Olympia Johnson and brother of BeulahJohnson.
He is also survived by one grandchild.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
LANDRY HILLERYVILLE – Rosemary Harris “Gennie” Landry, 64, a native and resident of St. James, died July 26. She was the mother of Clara MaeMcFarland, Katherine Landry, Rose Mary Napoleon, Antoinette Ferchaud, Betty Lou Fisher and Devert and Jamal Landry.
She was also the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith Mayho Harris and the sister of Geraldine Posey, Odette Nelson, Murl and Ovide Harris and the late Clarence and Lloyd Harris.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held July 30 at Hopeful Baptist Church, Hilleryville, with interment at Burton Lane Cemetery, St. James.
OUBRE VACHERIE – Leroy J. Oubre, 70, a native of Vacherie and a resident ofReserve, died July 26. He was the former husband of Marian Jones andfather of Lisa Harrison, Durrell LaGrange, Ricky Jason and Dennis, Ricky, Malcolm and Barry Oubre.
He was also the son of the late Florian and Theresa Phillip Oubre, step-son of Christina W. Oubre, the brother of Priscilla Burke, Josephine Jones,Regina Octave, Ruby, Welmon and Hurby Oubre, the late Percy Joseph “Joe Pete” Oubre, the step-brother of Paul Frank and Huey, Patrick, John and Richard Oubre.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
Services were held July 30 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.
SMITH RESERVE – Dorothy L. Tamplain Smith, 76, a native of Lutcher and aresident of Reserve for 60 years, died July 26. She was the wife by firstmarriage of the late Prentice Tamplain Jr. and by second marriage ofAlfred Smith, the mother of Jean Brignac, Marilyn Broome, Serryl Savoie, Charles “Beebee” Tamplain and the late Lynn and Prentice “Pat” Tamplain III.
She was also the sister of Warren and Russell Landry.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 29 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery.
VICKNAIR WHITE CASTLE – Mathilde Bursa Vicknair, 95, a native of Mt. Airy and aresident of White Castle, died July 27. She was the daughter of the lateGeorge and Josephine Descareaux Vicknair and sister of Theresa DeSoto, Julius and Rene Vicknair, the late Onieda O’Rourke, Stella Engolio and Clara, Lily, Vives, George, Roland and Lillian Vicknair.
Services were held July 30 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, White Castle, with interment at the church cemetery.
WHITE DESTREHAN – Elizabeth Bowden White, a native of Somerville, Mass., aformer resident of Destrehan and resident of Metairie, died July 26. Shewas the mother of John White.
She was also the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Donahue Bowden and sister of the late Charles Bowden.
She is also survived by three grandchildren.
Memorial services were held July 29 at St. Charles Borromeo CatholicChurch, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.
