SHREVEPORT – Brett Bergeron’s string of success on the Gulf States Junior PGA Tour continued this week as he placed first in his age group at the Shreveport Junior Open held at Southern Trace Country Club.

Bergeron, from LaPlace, shot a two-over par 146 to defeat Chad Bailey of Shreveport by four strokes in the boys’ 14-15-year-old division. Bergeronput together of rounds of 74 and 72 on the par 72 course. He missed out onthe overall lead by one stroke.

Bailey had rounds of 78 and 72 for a six-over par 150. Brock Waguespackof LaPlace placed 37th in the age division, shooting rounds of 93 and 87 for a 36-over par 180.

The victory was the second straight on the tour for Bergeron. Two weeksago, he won the Gulf States PGA Junior Maxfli Championship at Castlewood Country Club in Jackson, Miss. by six strokes. He will be competing in theAlexandria Junior Invitational July 27-28 at Alexandria Country Club.
