One killed, two hurt in River Road crash

GARYVILLE-A man was killed and two others injured when a pickup truck lost control on Louisiana Highway 44 in Garyville and ran into a tree Monday afternoon.
Louisiana State troopers said the truck was traveling at approximately 55-60 mph when the accident occured. That section of River Road has a 45mph speed limit. State Police also noted there was a “little rain” at thetime of the crash that may have contributed. The police do not believealcohol was a factor in the the accident, but they are awaiting blood alchol results from the state police crime lab.
The three men were rushed to River Parishes Hospital where the driver of the truck was pronounced dead on arrival. The identity of the deceasedwas not released pending notification of the family.
The other two men, Sylvester Williams, 36, and Donald Emery Jr., 22, bothof Baton Rouge, received non-life threatening injuries, and they were treated and released from the hospital.
