Cretin Homes clinches playoff spot with 8-5 win

LAPLACE – Cretin Homes jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held on for an 8-5 victory over Reserve Post 159 Friday night at Comets Field, clinching a spot in the Second District East playoffs.
Cretin Homes begins tournament play tonight at Bonnabel High School.
Cretin Homes led 8-4 going into the top of the sixth when Ryan Bugay and Dustin Duhon drew walks from starting pitcher Dustin Braud. JasonWaguespack came in to relieve Braud and walked Bradley Hodges to load the bases. Waguespack then came back and struck out Jeff Roccaforte,Ronnie Mason and Derrick Louque to preserve the lead.
Reserve Post 159 threatened again in the top of the seventh. BrittWaguespack opened the inning with a walk and one out later was forced at second by Brandon Delaneuville. Bugay and Duhon followed with singles,plating Delaneuville to make it a three-run game. Waguespack then gotHodges on a called third strike to end the game.
Cretin Homes went ahead 3-0 in the first inning against Delaneuville.
Brian Horvath led off by reaching on an errant throw by third baseman Sean Delaneuville. Waguespack walked and Jason Gonzales singled to rightto load the bases. After Braud popped out to catcher Blake Duhe, NickMonica walked to force in Horvath. A single to left by Ricky Madere and awalk by Matt Fisse brought in two more runs before Delaneuville got Toby Jacobs to hit into an inning-ending double play.
Cretin Homes added three more runs in the second. Mike Mustian led offwith a walk and went to second on a balk. Singles to left by Horvath andWaguespack scored Mustian to make it 4-0. Gonzales brought in Horvathwith a subsequent single to right. Braud then reached on an error, scoringWaguespack to make it 6-0.
Post 159 pulled to within 6-2 in the top of the third as Britt Waguespack walked and Sean Delaneuville homered deep over the left-center field fence with two outs.
Fisse doubled to lead off the bottom of the inning but was left stranded.
Post 159 made it a 6-4 game in the top of the fifth. With one out, SethLeBlanc walked and stole second. One out later Waguespack hit a two-runhome run to right field. Sean Delaneuville followed with a walk beforeBraud got Brandon Delaneuville to pop out to end the inning.
Cretin Homes built its lead back to four in the bottom half of the inning.
Madere opened the inning with walk. One out later, Jacobs singled to rightto put runners at first and second. After a double steal, Mustian bounced atripe to right field, scoring both Madere and Jacobs. Horvath followed witha fly ball to Roccaforte in left. Sean Delaneuville cut off Roccaforte’sthrow and threw home to nail Mustian at the plate to end the inning.
