Bats come alive for Post 159 in 10-2 victory

LUTCHER – Sean Delaneuville homered and Chris Bourgeois pitched six shutout innings as Reserve Post 159 defeated the Lutcher Dugout Club, 10- 2, Wednesday afternoon.
Post 159 moved to 3-8 overall and 3-7 in Second District East play. TheDugout Club fell to 6-6 overall and 5-4 in district.
Reserve went up to bat in the first inning and with two outs, Brandon Delaneuville reached on an error to keep the inning alive. Next, SeanDelaneuville lit into an inside fastball from Lutcher starter Rusty Crosslin and lifted it over the fence in left field for a two-run home run, giving Post 159 a 2-0 lead.
Post 159 added two more in the top of the third. With one out BrittWaguespack hit a hard liner to center for a single and stole second. AfterBrandon Delaneuville was hit by a pitch, he and Waguespack executed a double steal. Sean Delaneuville followed with a hard liner past short thatbrought in both runners, making it 4-0.
Travis Klibert singled to left in the top of the fourth but was left stranded. Bourgeois then set the side down in order in the bottom half ofthe inning.
In the top of the fifth, Waguespack greeted new Lutcher pitcher Damian Ursin with a stand-up double to right and ended up at third on a passed ball. After a walk by Brandon Delaneuville, Waguespack scored on a wildpitch. A single by Sean Delaneuville through the infield into left field putrunners at the corners.
Brandon Delaneuville came in after evading a run-down and Duhe followed by dropping a single behind first base, scoring Sean Delaneuville to make it 7-0.
Ursin singled with two outs in the sixth inning but was picked off by Bourgeois. Sean Delaneu-ville drove a stand-up double to center field withtwo outs in the sixth but was also left stranded.
Post 159 added three runs in the top of the seventh on doubles by Ryan Bugay and Jeff Roccaforte and a single by Brandon Delaneuville.
Bourgeois took the shutout into the seventh before Lutcher broke through for two runs. Terry Millet and Dustin Deslatte walked and Ursin followedwith a triple to score both runners.
Post 159 travels to Cretin Homes today while the Dugout Club plays at River Parishes Division leader Otto Candies.
