Cretin Homes takes district win

LAPLACE – Cretin Homes scored four runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to take a 9-4 Second District East victory over the Lutcher Dugout Club Wednesday afternoon at St. Charles Catholic.Cretin Homes improved to 5-2 overall and 5-1 in district play. The DugoutClub fell to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in district.
With the score tied at one in the bottom of the fourth, Toby Jacob and Randy Madere drew walks from Dugout Club starter Damian Ursin with one out. After Jacob advanced to third on a high throw to second, JasonGonzales doubled over the third base bag, scoring Jacob to give Cretin Homes the lead.
Brian Horvath followed by dropping a single along the right field line, bringing in Madere from third. Gonzales then came in on a wild pitch asJason Waguespack walked. After a wild pitch advanced Waguespack tosecond, Matt Roussel came in to pitch for the Dugout Club. Matt Fissefollowed with a single to left, scoring Horvath to make it 5-1. Rousselthen retired the next two batters to end the inning.
Cretin Homes starter Dustin Braud pitched out of a two-out bases loaded situation in the top of the fifth. Cretin Homes put runners on second andthird with one out in the bottom half of the frame as Mike Mustian walked and Ricky Madere doubled to right off Dugout Club reliever Risley St.
Germain. Gonzales brought in Mustian with a sacrifice fly to left. AfterJason Rauch and Waguespack walked to load the bases, Fisse singled to left to score two runs. Walks by Jason LaPorte and Nick Monica scoredWaguespack to make it 9-1.
Dustin Deslatte came in to pitch for the Dugout Club and got Braud to fly out to right to end the inning.
The Dugout Club rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth. JeremyMartin led off the inning with a home run to right. One out later, Lee Pochefollowed with another shot over the right field wall, cutting the deficit to 9-3.
Deslatte reached on an error and went to second base on a wild pitch.
After Braud got Tray Haydel to ground out to short, Bo Louque singled to left to score Deslatte. Louque advanced to second on the throw to the plateand went to third on a throwing error by Gonzales. Ursin and Lane Vicknairwalked to load the bases before Braud got out of the jam by striking out Terry Millet.
Scott Ocmond walked with one out in the top of the seventh. Braud thencame back to strike out Poche and Deslatte to end the game.
The game was halted in the top of the second by a 15-minute rain delay.
When the game resumed, the Dugout Club loaded the bases with two outs on walks by Rusty Crosslin and Ocmond and a single by Martin. Braud keptthe game scoreless by striking out Trent Bourgeois for the third out.
Cretin Homes broke on top in the bottom of the third as Horvath, Waguespack, Fisse and Jon Hymel walked in succession with two outs.
The Dugout Club tied the score in the top of fourth. Ursin opened the inningby beating out a single to third. One out later, Ben Martin beat out a buntto third with Ursin advancing to third. Roussel then bunted past Braud onthe squeeze attempt, bringing in Ursin with the tying run.
