ACOSTA KENNER Joseph Acosta, 61, a native of New Orleans and resident of Luling for many years, died May 2. He was the husband of Agnes GassenAcosta and father of Catherine Finn, Joanie Guerrera, Jo Ann Zeringue, Deidre Richoux and Tina Cavaretta.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

Services are today at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Kenner, with interment at St. Charles Mausoleum, Luling. Visitation starts at 10a.m.BYERLY DES ALLEMANDS Trisha Byerly, 21, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died April 28. She was the daughter of Douglas and Reba Byerlyand sister of Lisa Tregle, Katina Cortez and Douglas “Gene” Byerly.

She was also the granddaughter of Maxine Ledoux, Dallas Veillon, Margie Haugh and Donald Byerly.

Services were held May 5 at Des Allemands Mennonite Church, Des Allemands, with interment at the church cemetery.

CATARINA LULING Helen “Joyce” Catarina, 78, a native and resident of Luling, died May 1. She was the wife of Joseph Catarina and mother of Anna Keller.She was also the daughter of the late Adam and Lydia Bourg and sister of Mary Parfait and Adam Jr. and Oneal Bourg and the late Nellie Mae Duhe.She is also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church,Luling, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling. Visitation startsat 9 a.m.DAVIS LAPLACE Jacob Davis, 42, a native of Boutte and a resident of LaPlace, died April 27. He was the husband of Connie Davis and father of Natasha,Glenda and Felicia Davis.

He was also the son of the late Joe and Evelina Davis and brother of Theresa Feist, Evelyn Alexander, Elizabeth King, Bobbie Sandolph and Lawrence, Joe Jr., Isaac, Edward, Otis and Lattis Davis and the late LuziaPinkney, Joyce Campbell and Dolly and Larry Davis.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were held May 3 at Milesville Memorial Church of God, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Resthaven Cemetery.

DUFRENE Marty J. Dufrene, 41, a resident of Des Allemands, died April 28. He wasthe son of Sadie Robinson and the late Dudley Dufrene and brother of Michael Paul.

Services were held May 1 in the chapel of Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, with interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

GIARRATANO METAIRIE Marguerite Rita Murray Giarratano, 80, a native of New Orleans, former resident of Metairie for many years, and resident of Lutcher for three years, died April 22. She was the mother of DeeThibodeaux, Amelia Melancon and Edward Albert Sonny Thibodeaux Jr.

She was also the sister of Joann and Deann Murray, James and Michael Murray and Robert Gay.

She is also survived by 11 children and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 1 at Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

JACK RESERVE Leander Cook Jack, 58, a native and resident of Reserve, died April 29. She was the wife of Ervin Jack Jr. and mother of Greginald Isaac,Yvette Trench and Ricky and Laumonth Jack.

She was also the sister of Shirley Robinson, Augustine and Viola Cook, Rose Ann Batiste, Genolia Granderson and Elva Perrilloux.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren.

Services were May 4 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.ROUSSEVE EDGARD Maurice A. Rousseve Sr., 63, a native and resident of Edgard, diedMay 2. He was the husband of Jacqueline D. Rousseve and father of Gidgetand Maurice Rousseve Jr.

He was also the son of the late Lionel and Rose D. Rousseve and brother ofRuby Coustaut, Iris Sears, Canedia Thomas and Emile Rousseve.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.SIMON MARRERO Josephine Benoit Simon, 76, a native of Reserve and a resident of Marrero for 50 years, died April 29. She was the wife of the late LucienJ. “Grobec” Simon and mother of Barbara Ellis, Linda Guidry, PriscillaRodriguez, Yvonne Engle, Tammy Grabert and Paul, Leroy and Terry Simon and the late Betty Matherne and L.J. Simon.She was also the daughter of the late Paul and Adelia Benoit and sister of Rose Arceneaux and the late Marie Toups, Gloria Simon and Eddit Benoit Sr.

She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held May 3 at Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church, Marrero, with interment at Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale.

WILLIAMS VACHERIE Rosa Lee “Mommee” Armant Williams, 63, a native and resident of Vacherie, died April 27. She was the mother of Betty Love,Deborah Adams and Edward, Michael and Horace Williams Jr.

She was also the daughter of Nettie Armant and sister of Jerry Lee Williams, Clarence Bazile and Norman and Joseph Armant Jr.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were held May 3 at Vacherie Baptist Church with interment at the church cemetery.
