LAPLACE – A 15-year-old LaPlace boy has been arrested, charged with the aggravated rape of a 3-year-old girl.

The boy, according to Lt. Michael Tregre of the St. John the BaptistSheriff’s Office, was transported to the St. James Juvenile DetentionCenter following his arrest Sunday.

A continued custody hearing was scheduled yesterday, Tregre said.

According to Tregre, the boy was a visitor at the home where the alleged rape occurred. He allegedly entered the home where the child was playingin a den and forced himself on her.

The child, Tregre said, reported the incident to her aunt, who was asleep in another room at the time. The child’s uncle was also in the house but inanother room when the alleged attack occurred.

The child was transported from the house to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans for treatment, Tregre said.
