River Parish residents to be honored

Some 224 lay persons who have devoted themselves to the work of the Catholic Church throughout the Archdiocese of New Orleans will be awarded the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion in ceremonies May 2.Archbishop Francis B. Schulte personally will present the awards at the St.Louis Cathedral at 3 p.m. The ceremony includes a prayer service andpresentation of the medals.
This is the 25th consecutive year the Order of St. Louis IX awards have beenpresented. The medallion was established over 30 years ago to honor thosemembers of the laity who have contributed their time and talents to the church.
This year’s local recipients of the Order of St. Louis include Roy Boudreaux,Ama; Vicki Fyoux and Christopher Pierce, Destrehan; Anita Pierre and Rufus Pierre, Edgard; Max Duronslet, Hahnville; Debra Berns, Ms. Johnny Bee Creecy,Gilbert Henry, Bonita Ragas, Michael St. Martin, all of LaPlace; Grace Becnel,Margaret Becnel, Sidney Becnel, Jesse Crain, Annette Matherne, all of Luling; Edwin Guidry and Herman Louque, Norco; Lois Forrest, Paradis; and Rhonda Boe and Melvin Weber, Reserve.Back to Top
