ALLEMAN JEFFERSON Linda Barient Alleman, 98, a native of White Castle, past resident of Destrehan for many years and a resident of Jefferson for 30 years, died April 14. She was the wife of the late Ivest J. Alleman andmother of Olga Benedict and Gerald Alleman.
She was also the sister of Bill Barient.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church,Jefferson, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.
BAILEY NEW SARPY Wilbert Bailey, 54, a native and resident of New Sarpy, died April 9. He was the son of the late America “Buster” and Sallie HesterBailey and brother of Salley Mae Bailey and the late Bessie Dee Bailey.
He was also the devoted friend of Victoria Stone.
Services were held April 16 at St. Matthew Baptist Church, New Sarpy,with interment at New Sarpy Cemetery.
BECNEL LULING Marguerite Dupont Becnel, 68, a native of Houma and a resident of Luling, died April 14. She was the wife of Joseph Eno Becnel and mother ofAmanda Campbell, Lisa Edwards, Sarah Thigpen and Lyle and Pierre Becnel.
She was also the daughter of the late Paul and Bridget Panvelle Dupont and sister of Elaine Callahan, Roy and Sterling Dupont and the late Gertrude Tippett, Adele Robichaux, Antonia Normington and Ralph Dupont.
Services were held April 16 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Luling, withinterment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
BERTHELOT RESERVE Burton M. Berthelot, 62, a native of Reserve and a resident ofBelle Rose for two years, died April 12. He was the husband of the lateBessie Berthelot and step-father of Darlene Sibley and Thomas and James Lee.
He was also the son of the late Nolan and Nelia Berthelot, step-son of the late Lillian Berthelot and brother of Audrey Becnel, Clemence Bourgeois, Nolan Jr. and Alton Berthelot, Sister Marlene Berthelot, O.P. and PatriciaMelancon.
He is also survived by step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 15 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at Greenoaks Cemetery, Baton Rouge.
GRIFFIN AMA Shonda Valencia Griffin, 25, a native and resident of Ama, died April 9. She was the daughter of Arthur and Marion Griffin and sister ofFarid Lamir and Charisse, Latangie, Iris, Lisa, Arthur Jr. and Brett Griffin.Services were held April 15 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Ama, withinterment at Mary Flower Cemetery, Ama.
LEBLANC RESERVE Vidleia “Muggy” LeBlanc, 82, a native of Burnside and a lifelong resident of Reserve, died April 10. She was the wife of the late MorrisLeBlanc Sr. and mother of Mildred Russell, Patricia Williams and Rolandand Morris LeBlanc Jr.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reserve,with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 10a.m.
LUKES NORCO Roman Albert Lukes, 80, a native of Fordyce, Neb., and a residentof Norco for 50 years, died April 14. He was the husband of the lateBernice Denoux Lukes and father of Kristina Braud, Jill Sherman, Jody Banquer, Karen Bivona, Shelly Babineaux and Scott Lukes.
He was also the brother of Grace Hittle.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan. Visitationstarts at 10 a.m.
MILLS RESERVE Sedonia “Ma Sea” Mills, 78, a native of Lions and a resident of Garyville for many years, died April 14. She was the wife of the late AlexMills Sr. and mother of Aldonia Daigre and Alex Jr. and Joseph “Jap” Mills.She was also the daughter of the late Ed and Victoria Hall and sister of Lizzie Williams.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Reserve, with intement at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
SHARETT NEW ORLEANS David “Toe” Sharett, 86, a native of St. James Parish and aresident of New Orleans for 77 years, died April 10. He was the husband ofMary Edwards Sharett.
He was also the son of the late Anthony and Matilda Terry Sharett and brother of Ceola Simmons and Cewillow, George and Freddie Sharett. Hewas preceded in death by six brothers.
He was a barber for 67 years.
Services were Saturday at Union Bethel A.M.E. Church, New Orleans,with interment at Providence Memorial Park. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
TOMPSON LULING Laura Ourso Laque Tompson, 92, a native of White Castle and a resident of Luling for many years, died April 13. She was the wife by firstmarriage of Leslie Laque Sr. and by second marriage of the late ThomasLarkin Tompson.
She was also the daughter of the late Antoine and Laura Gomez Ourso and sister of the late Lorena Roux, Andrea Roux, Louise Roeder, Ella Roy, Eula Applebaum and Augustine, Willie, Freddie, Wallace and David Ourso.
Services were held April 16 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church,Luling, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
TROSCLAIR HARVEY Beulah Keller Trosclair, 84, a native of Edgard and a resident of Harvey for 64 years, died April 24. She was the wife of the late JosephTrosclair and mother of Virgie Ott, Bea Panepinto and Sister Dorothy Trosclair, O.P.She was also the daughter of the late Rene and Renee Kliebert Keller and sister of May Schexnayder, Richard Keller and the late Harold Norvan and Norris Keller.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 16 at St. Rosalie Catholic Church, Harvey, withinterment at Westlawn Memorial Park.
