Lady Bulldogs roll on against Donaldsonville

LUTCHER – Lutcher continued to roll through district play Thursday afternoon, defeating Donaldsonville, 15-0, in three innings at Lady Bulldog Park.
The Bulldogs improved to 20-4-1 overall and 5-0 in district play.
Donaldsonville fell to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in district.
Erin Hymel did not allow a hit and struck out nine in moving to 14-4-1 on the season. She allowed only one batter to reach base, issuing a lead-offwalk to Kaisha Lymon in the second.
Hymel then struck out the side on nine pitches. She also struck out theside on 10 pitches in each of the other two innings.
Lutcher got things started in the bottom of the first. Jenee Weber andBecky Lambert walked and Christy Melancon was hit by a pitch by Donaldsonville starter LaTesha Wicks. One out later, Cindy Guidry hit asharp grounder to third that deflected off Shara Joshua, allowing Weber and Lambert to come in to score.
Candace Millet followed with a drive into the left-center field gap, pulling into third with a triple as Melancon and courtesy runner Kassie Waguespack made it 4-0. Millet scored as Katie Cashio lined a single toleft.
After Cashio advanced on a wild pitch, Toni Riley hit a sinking liner to second that Kim Williams could not come up with, putting runners at the corners with one out.
Breeze Vicknair and Weber drove in runs with singles to left. Lambert andMelancon reached on errors, allowing Vicknair to score to make it 8-0.
Michelle Roussel struck out but forced a throw to first as catcher Erica North dropped the ball, allowing Weber to score the ninth run of the inning.
The Lady Bulldogs added five runs with a two-out rally in the second. Rileystarted the rally by blooping a double into right field and advancing to third on a passed ball. Vicknair scored Riley with a single to left and wentto second as the ball skipped past LaTisha Simon. Weber lined a single tocenter, bringing home Vicknair to make it 11-0.
Lambert singled to right and went to second on an errant throw to third.
Melancon then ripped a single to center, going to second as the ball went past Delacy Joseph with Weber and Lambert scoring.
Melancon went to third on a wild pitch as Roussel walked. Melancon thenscored as Roussel forced a run down while trying to steal second, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 14-0 lead.
Guidry led off the third with a walk and went to second as ball four got past North. Millet followed with a triple into left field with Waguespack,running for Guidry, coming home with the 15th run for the Lady Bulldogs.
Lutcher coach John Bentivegna said his team has not played a close game in district this year other than a 2-0 victory over E.D. White. The LadyBulldogs played the Cardinals in a make-up game to end the second round of district play. Lutcher opens round three at Plaquemine Tuesday.”We’re doing ok,” Bentivegna said. “Hitting wise, against good pitching weare leaving runners on. But we are doing what it takes to win.”
