LaPlace man charged after stabbing

LAPLACE – A 42-year-old Reserve woman was stabbed several times outside an Airline Highway lounge Sunday.
Lloyd E. Morgan, 26, 928 Whitlow Court, LaPlace, was charged withaggravated battery and simple battery.
Lt. Michael Tregre reported that Morgan hitched a ride with the woman toJoy’s Lounge, 3227 West Airline Highway, Reserve, Sunday afternoon. Bythe time they arrived, however, Morgan and the 42-year-old woman began arguing.
Tregre reported that Morgan allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the woman in the abdomen three times, then ran into the woods near the lounge. He was later caught by deputies at 1:22 p.m. on Dupont property.River Parishes Hospital spokesman Sean Roussel reported the victim underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition.
In another incident, Joseph Reeves, 25, 1977 Pine St., Winnie, Texas, wascharged with first-degree vehicular injuring, hit and run driving, DWI fourth-plus offense and driving under suspension.
A pedestrian called police Monday morning to say he was struck by an eastbound car near the intersection of U.S. Highway 51 and AirlineHighway.
Tregre said Reeves was pulled over, as his vehicle fit the description of the suspect vehicle, and his car had a cracked windshield and a dent on the hood. The matter was turned over to Louisiana State Police, who filed thecharges.
