Lopez’ recipe for reading catches publisher’s attention

LAPLACE – Amanda Lopez, a fourth-grade student at LaPlace Elementary, prepared a recipe for reading that captured the attention of a state literary journal publisher, making Lopez an inspiration for young readers.

Amanda’s recipe, which was originally produced as part of her mother’s education course at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, was published on the cover of “The Journal of the Louisiana Reading Association.” Her recipe was also printed on the LaPlace Elementary school newsletter, “The Tiger Express.”As stated in the newsletter, “Her recipe for reading is super. We are bothhappy and proud to see Amanda’s work on the cover of ‘The Journal of the Louisiana Reading Association.'”Amanda’s Recipe For Reading includes: 2 cups of studying, 10 cups of reading every day, 9 books from the library, 20 ounces of sounding out letters, 19 pints of reading to your parent, a good brain for remembering the words and a great teacher to help each and every day.
