ABATE HAMMONDNick Abate, 89, a native of Luling and resident of Ponchatoula, died March 20. He was the husband of the late Elsie Riedie Abate andfather of Audrey Legendre and Peter Tellis.
He was also the son of the late Pietro and Rosie DiGirolamo Abate and brother of Nora Lemoine, Mary Desimoine and Joseph, Sam and Peter Abate and the late Vincent and Philip Abate.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 23 in the chapel of Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, Hammond, with interment at Garden of Memories, New Orleans.
DUHE METAIRIEFrancis Leon “Freck” Duhe, 80, a native of Reserve and resident of Metairie for 44 years, died March 21. He was the husband ofEsther Vicknair Duhe and father of Barbara James, Glendora Ferman, Suzanne Athey, Carol Olsen, Terry, Don and Francis Duhe Jr. and the latePamela Duhe.
He was also the son of the late Leon and Bridgette Breaux Duhe and brother of Leonde “Slo” Heller and Marcel and Clarence Duhe and the late Ita Cassella.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son FuneralHome, Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories. Visitation startsat 9 a.m.JAMES-HERRING NEW ORLEANSEthel Mae James-Herring, 68, a native of Convent and a resident of New Orleans for 60 years, died March 15. She was the motherof Cheryl Herring-Brown and Lynn Herring-James.
She was also the daughter of Isabella Leola Gardner and sister of Minnie Griffin, Willie Nell Alexander, Gladys Weathersby, Charlie Marshall, Joyce Johnson, Frankie Guidry and Dave Gardner.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 20 at Greater King Solomon Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Lake Lawn Mausoleum.
MILIOTO LAPLACEDominick John Milioto, 94, a native of Kenner and resident of LaPlace for 85 years, died March 8. He was the husband of Camilla VuteraMilioto and father of Catherine Hartman, Ann Reeves, Rosemary “Minnie” Correia and Joan Milioto.
He was also the son of the late John and Catherine Zeto Milioto and brother of Lilly Cassiooppi, Mike Milioto and the late Lena Nuccio and Joseph, Anthony, Lucy and Charlie Milioto.
He is also survived by four grandchildren.
He was the co-founder of Milioto Brothers and farmed until the age of 80, when he retired to backyard gardening. He was a third-degree Knights ofColumbus member and was 1990 Knight of the Year.
Services were held March 10 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace,with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.MULE’ NORCOMichael “Mike” Mule’, 86, a native and resident of Norco, died March 20. He was the husband of Catherine “Katie” Mule’ and father ofGerald and Donald Mule’.
He was also the brother of Faye Zippardo, Rose Zummo, Mary Stipelvoich, Marie Mancuso, Catherine Rizutto, Maggie Portero and the late Josephine Mancuso and Peter and Jack Mule’.
He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held March 22 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home,Norco, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.RICHARD NORCOMartin “Lincoln” Richard, 71, a native and resident of Montz, died March 19. He was the husband of Delores Davis Richard and father of Lisa,Martin, Zachary and Robin Richard and Bryant Keith Brumfield.
He was also the son of the late Alexander and Lydia Richard and brother of Leona Parquet, Hardin Richard and the late Ellis and Dorothy Richard.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at Montz Cemetery. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.STEWART RIVER RIDGEHenry Stewart Sr., 71, a native of Reserve and a resident ofRiver Ridge for 30 years, died March 18. He was the husband of Gertrude W.Stewart and father of Laura Brown, Joycelyn Eugene, Shelia Brisby, Latasha Stewart and Roosevelt, Cornelius and Timothy Piper.
He was also the son of the late Henry Sr. and Olivia Gooden Stewart andthe brother of James Stewart Sr.
He is also survived by 19 grandchildren.
Services were held March 23 in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, River Ridge, with interment at Bellgrove Cemetery, Kenner.
STILL MARRERORose Mary Still, 63, a native of LaPlace and a resident of Byhalia, Miss. for 21 years, died March 17. She was the wife of Billy Stilland mother of Linda Barthe and Diane Renner.
She was also the daughter of the late Edward and Marie Catoie Dickerson and sister of Laura Dobbs, Dorothy Fitzgerald and Ronnie, Richard and Thomas Dickerson and the late Edward Lee Dickerson.
She is also survived by five grandchildren.
Services were held March 20 in the chapel of Westside Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Restlawn Park.
TONEY LAPLACEAlma Toney, 74, a native of LaPlace and a resident of Reserve, died March 16. She was the wife of the late Henry Joseph Toney Sr. andmother of Tammy, Wilfred, Brenda, Marvin, Barbara, Malcolm, Milton, Edward, Harold and Patrick Toney and the late Ervin Wilson and Joseph Toney Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Peter and Hilda Frank and sister of Shirley Carter, Ethel Forest, Gloria Lestrick, Emma Sanders, Louise Brown, Mary Lee Mitchell, Dora Traywick, Augustine and Ishmel Frank and the late Rosalie Jones and Peter Frank Jr.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 22 at the Milesville Church of God in Christ, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Reserve.WINCHESTER ST. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 21 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, St. James,with interment at St. James Catholic Cemetery.
