WCKW-1010 AM will broadcast River Parishes Sports Talk live from the Pizza Factory in Gramercy every Thursday night from 6:15-7 p.m. The St. Charles Catholic Athletic Association is holding a monthly$1,000 raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold each month at a cost of $20per ticket. Drawings are to be held on the 28th of each month. The St. Charles Parks and Recreation Department will host the LSUBaseball Clinic today at the Eastbank Bridge Park beginning at 9 a.m. The players clinic, featuring coach Dan Canevari and eight Tiger players, will be free of charge and is open to players ages 8-17.
The clinic will focus on hitting, fielding and pitching fundamentals. CoachBeetle Bailey will also hold a parents clinic while the players are on the field.
Players should bring all of their equipment to participate (hat, gloves, shoes).
The Louisiana Soccer Association, in conjunction with the United States Soccer Federation and the United States Olympic Committee, will conduct open tryouts in the Olympic Development Program today and tomorrow.
Trials will be held for boys and girls born in 1984, 1983, 1982 and 1981.
The cost for the Area Trials is $20 per person. Area trials will be held inRaceland at the Lafourche Soccer Association fields and in Covington at St. Paul’s School.Players must register in advance to be allowed in the try-outs.

St. Charles Catholic’s Double Diamond Club is hosting its secondannual Double Diamond Gala to benefit the baseball and softball programs Saturday, March 13, in the school gym and cafeteria.
The night begins with dinner served at 7:30 p.m. Dancing is scheduled from9 p.m. to 1 a.m. to the sounds of Summer Breeze. Door prize and cash prizedrawings will be held. Five $200 prizes will be drawn, with the grandprize award of $5000 to be picked at 11 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from members of the Double Diamond Club or Frank Monica, who can be reached at 652-3809.
The Louisiana Sportsmen’s Show returns to the Louisiana Superdome Wednesday, March 17 through Sunday, March 21, offering the general public the largest and newest selection of sportfishing gear, boats and hunting equipment at special Show discount prices. Activities include “Water Dog”seminars, fishing and hunting seminars and the annual Big Buck contest.
Show hours are 4-10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults and $3for children.
Ascension of Our Lord is holding baseball registration April 11 and 18 from 12:30-3 p.m. at the school.Registration will be held for T-ball (boys and girls) 4-6-years old; baseball (boys) from 7-13 years-old; softball (girls) 10-13 years-old; and cabbage ball (girls) 7-13 years-old. Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St.
Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free.
The vehicle will be recycled into the funds needed to support the year- round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally- retarded children and adults in Louisiana.
Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title. Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction asthe fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
