LAPLACE – St. Charles Catholic offensive lineman Kenny Ordeneaux isabout to join his brother in playing at the next level, verbally committing to Northeast Louisiana this past week.

Ordeneaux’s brother, Jimmy, is currently at Tulane.

Ordeneaux said he liked the coaching staff at Northeast Louisiana. TheIndians recently hired Bobby Keasler as head coach after Keasler had helped turn McNeese State into a perennial power, including a berth in the 1997 Division I-AA championship game.

“I liked coach Keasler,” Ordeneaux said. “I liked the record he had atMcNeese. I see him bringing some wins and turning it around. I talked tosome players at Northeast and they seemed to be real excited about the new coaches.”Both Miami (Fla.) and Louisiana Tech offered but when he did not commitright away, they filled up their quota of offensive linemen. Tulane andOregon State also expressed interest.

Northeast Louisiana also recruited Ordeneaux as a tackle, his position at St. Charles Catholic, while other schools looked at him as a center or aguard. Ordeneaux said he was told he might be red-shirted his first yearbut he is confident he will see playing time before it is all over.

Ordeneaux said he is excited about playing at the next level. His strengthsare his run-blocking and his quick feet. The six-foot-four, 265-poundersaid he is working out and that once he officially signs, Northeast Louisiana will send him information on a workout routine to follow.

Ordeneaux was named to the all-District 9-2A and all-River Parishes team this past season after helping the Comets gain over 3,000 yards on offense. Ordeneaux also played nose tackle at St. Charles Catholic andComets coach Wayde Keiser said that helped him as a lineman.

“Northeast is getting an outstanding offensive lineman,” Keiser said.

“He is an offensive lineman who has a defensive mentality. He is anaggressive kid with exceptional feet. They got a great prospect there andare getting a quality individual.”
