WCKW-1010 AM will broadcast River Parishes Sports Talk live from the Pizza Factory in Gramercy every Thursday night from 6:15-7 p.m. The River Parishes Fellowship of Christian Athletes Adult Chapter meets on the first Saturday of every month for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the Corner Cafe on Dominican Drive in LaPlace. The St. Charles Catholic Athletic Association is holding a monthly$1,000 raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold each month at a cost of $20per ticket. James native Lenny Webster of the Baltimore Orioles, Riverside Academy’s Carl Schultz of the Chicago Cubs, East St. John’s DarrylNicholas of the Milwaukee Brewers and Thomas Pittman of the Montreal Expos along with the support of Aaron Lombard, Community Re-lations Director for the New Orleans Zephyrs and a host of other minor and major league athletes.

Registration will take place today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wal-MartShopping Center on Airline Highway in LaPlace.

The instructional clinic will be geared toward teaching the fundamental skills of baseball for children ages 8-16 years-old. The cost of the clinicwill be $20 per child. All proceeds will benefit parish recreation.Participants will be responsible for providing their own shoes and gloves.

The South Tangi Youth Soccer Association, in conjunction with the Louisiana Soccer Association, will host a Youth Module level coaching certification course for under six and under eight coaches. The course isopen to all coaches and will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today atSoutheastern Louisiana University. The course is $25 for coachesaffiliated to the state association and $35 for those non-affiliated. The Bayouland Area Special Olympics Basketball Invitational Tournament will be held Saturday, Feb. 6 at Hahnville High School.Arrival time for all athletes and coaches is 8 a.m. Opening ceremoniesbegin at 8:30 a.m. with games running from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. All athletesplanning to advance to state must play at the area tournament in order to qualify.

Lunch will be provided for all athletes and coaches. Concessions will besold throughout the tournament. Please bring spending money for anyconcessions.

St. Charles Catholic’s Double Diamond Club is hosting its secondannual Double Diamond Gala to benefit the baseball and softball programs Saturday, March 13, in the school gym and cafeteria.

The night begins with dinner served at 7:30 p.m. Dancing is scheduled from9 p.m. to 1 a.m. to the sounds of Summer Breeze. Door prize and cash prizedrawings will be held. Five $200 prizes will be drawn, with the grandprize award of $5000 to be picked at 11 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from members of the Double Diamond Club or Frank Monica who can be reached at 652-3809.

Southeastern Louisiana University will begin its eighth season with the SLU Sports Radio Network this season. The Sports Network featuresflagship stations KSLU 90.9 FM along with two affiliates and globalaccessibility through the World Wide Web.

This year’s announcing team features play-by-play announcer Mark Willoughby and former Lions basketball player Duane Donald. Willoughbyhas been the voice of Lions basketball since the 1994-95 season.

Affiliates of SLU Sports Radio Network are WIBR 1300 AM in Baton Rouge and WSLA 1560 AM, Slidell. These stations will air a selection of gamesboth home and away. Check your local broadcast schedule for selecteddates.
