WCKW-1010 AM will broadcast River Parishes Sports Talk live from the Pizza Factory in Gramercy every Thursday night from 6:15-7 p.m. The River Parishes Fellowship of Christian Athletes Adult Chapter meets on the first Saturday of every month for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the Corner Cafe on Dominican Drive in LaPlace. The St. Charles Catholic Athletic Association is holding a monthly$1,000 raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold each month at a cost of $20per ticket. The Louisiana Soccer Association announces a meeting of the Latin American Soccer Coaches Association Friday from 7-10 p.m. at the HolidayInn in Metairie.

Juan Carlos Michia, the regional U-14 coaching coordinator for U.S. Soccer,will cover topics such as the Olympic Development Prog-ram and coaching education through U.S. Soccer. All Hispanic coaches, administrators,referees, parents and players are invited.

The True Beech Brotherhood Outreach Ministry invites the churches or ministries to participate in its flag football tournament Saturday and Sunday at Ezekial Jackson Park in Garyville.

There will be two divisions – 8-13 year olds and 14 and older. Entry fee is$20 for one division and $30 for both. Deadline for registration is today.Trophies will be given to the first and second place teams. In addition,there will be a Punt, Pass and Kick competition for ages 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. The entry fee for all three competitions is $5 per person.Registration will be the day of the event.

The Louisiana Soccer Association, in conjunction with the United States Soccer Federation and the United States Olympic Committee, will conduct try-outs in the Olympic Development Pro-gram for boys and girls born in 1985 and 1986 Saturday and Sunday at the Carrollton Soccer Association Fields in New Orleans.

The try-outs are open to all players. The cost is $20 per player and playersmust register by Nov. 16. The Destrehan High School Fighting Wildcat Basketball Camp will be held Nov. 23-25 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Destrehan gym.The camp, conducted by Destrehan head coach Mike McNamara, his staff and several varsity players, is for ages 7-14 years old. The cost of thecamp is $50 and includes a camp T-shirt and basketball.

Each player will be taught, observed and corrected in the fundamentals of basketball. The camp also includes shooting drills and games and 3 on 3and 5 on 5 team competition.

St. Charles Catholic Head Baseball Coach Frank Monica is holdingtwo baseball camps at the school over the Christmas holidays. A camp forpitchers and catchers will be held Dec. 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.The costs for the camp is $60.

A camp for hitters will be held Dec. 28-30 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The costis $90. For more information call coach Monica at the school at 652-3029. Southeastern Louisiana University will begin its eighth season with the SLU Sports Radio Network this season. This year’s announcing team features play-by-play announcer Mark Willoughby and former Lions basketball player Duane Donald. Willoughbyhas been the voice of Lions basketball since the 1994-95 season.
