25 St. James residents caught in drug sweep

CONVENT – Twenty-five St. James Parish residents were indicted Mondayon drug distribution charges, Sheriff Willy Martin Jr. announced.The indictments and arrests came as the result of an undercover operation which began in May and concluded in September.

The arrests were carried out with the assistance of the Lutcher and Gramercy police departments and the district attorney’s office. All of thefollowing were charged with distribution of controlled dangerous substances: Dana Banks, 9327 Ester St., Convent. Sidney Jones, 8171 Pleasant Hill, Convent.

Keynon Joshua, 8171 Pleasant Hill, Convent.

Walter Hansley, 1588 Rose St., Gramercy. Mark Julien, Convent Housing Development Unit 108-A, Convent.

Gayland Jones, West Lebray Street, Lutcher.

Quinton Knight, West Lebray Street, Lutcher.

Earl Lebeouf III, Babin Wilson Street, Convent.

Marlon Washington, 12866 Forrestal St., Vacherie. Raymond Lucas, 10298 Burnside St., Convent. Jason Tucker, 142 North Pine St., Lutcher. Horace Williams, 1254 Martin Luther King, Vacherie.

Reginald Carey, 2522 Church St., Vacherie. Alexander Stewart, 2417 Church St., Vacherie. Shane Manuel, 2494 West Lebray St., Lutcher. Roderick Thomas, 9173 Joseph Road, Convent.

Brandon Celestine, 2241 Church St., Vacherie. Edison Daniel, 2231 Exchange Alley, Lutcher.

Tremayne Barnes, 234 South Hickory St., Gramercy.In addition, James Demario Burl, 2445 West Lebray St., Vacherie, wascharged with possession of marijuana, Martin said.

Several juveniles were also involved in the distribution of the drugs, Martin said in a press release.

More arrests are forthcoming as a result of the undercover operation, Martin said.
