DUMAS VACHERIE – Floretta Steib Dumas, 84, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Oct. 30. She was the wife of the late Cyril Dumas Jr. and mother ofAnita Woods, Floretta Harry, Betty Paul, Herbert, Ernest, Roy, Joseph and Sylvester Dumas and the late Eunice Dumas.

She was also the daughter of the late Sylvester and Amy Oubre Steib and sister of Florence Jeffery, Emma Narcisse, Marina and Amy Saul, Nelson, Sylvester, Pierre and Clifford Steib and the late Louanna Lemieux, Lovertha Gros and Hilton, Florian and Joseph Steib.

She is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 6 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie,with interment at the church cemetery.

JACKSON MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Kenneth Ray Jackson, 38, a native of St. Rose and aresident of Memphis, Tenn., for the past six months, died Oct. 31. He wasthe companion of Sandy Watkins and father of Kena and Jasmine Watkins.

He was also the son of Raymond and Shirley Jackson and brother of Karen Hollins.

Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home,River Ridge, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.

KILMAN DERIDDER – John Burton “J.B.” Kilman Jr., 73, a native of DeRidder andresident of Luling, died Nov. 1. He was the husband of Marie Branch Kilmanand father of Cheryl Benvenuto and John Kilman III.

He is also survived by six grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 5 in the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home, DeRidder,with interment at Beauregard Cemetery, DeRidder.

MORRIS RESERVE – Brian Christopher Morris Jr., 5, a native of New Orleans andresident of Reserve, died Nov. 2. He was the son of Brian and CarmellaMorris and brother of Amber Ledet.

He is also survived by his guardians, Willie and Carolyn Joseph.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church,Reserve, with interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Reserve. Visitationstarts at 10 a.m.

WAGUESPACK VACHERIE – Fernand Joseph “Prof” Waguespack, 87, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Nov. 4. He was the husband of Hilda Haydel Waguespackand father of Hilda Pilcher and Howard, Linden and Leslie Waguespack.

He was also the son of the late Fernand E. and Berthe SchexnayderWaguespack and brother of Marie Haydel and Alvin, Nolan, Nelson, Arthur, Mark and the late Stanley Waguespack.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was a retired St. James Parish teacher and later retired from AmericanBank. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1514, served over20 years as a Scoutmaster and was a recipient of the Boy Scouts of America’s Silver Beaver Award.

Services are today at 11:30 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie,with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

WASHINGTON CONVENT – Johnny “Lil Johnny” Washington Jr., 44, a native of Convent andresident of Gonzales, died Nov. 1. He was the husband of LorraineWashington and father of Latasha and Regina Washington.

He was also the son of Shirley Mae Washington and the late Johnny Washington Sr., and the brother of Lester Hayes and Ivory Bush.He is also survived by a number of grandchildren.

Services are today at noon at Young Pilgrim Baptist Church, Convent, with interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Convent. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.

WILLIAMS NEW ORLEANS – Mildred C. Williams, 78, a native of Garyville and aresident of New Orleans, died Nov. 2. There are no immediate survivors.Services are today at10 a.m. at St. John Institutional Missionary BaptistChurch, New Orleans, with interment at Providence Memorial Park.

Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
