TransAmerican was one of only two companies from around the world to receive the award of “Most Improved Corporation.”TransAmerican was chosen to receive the award primarily because of its S.H.A.R. Team (Safety and Health Awareness Representatives) which wasestablished to support other implemented program elements, to promote safety awareness and to openly communicate about safety issues. As a result ofS.H.A.R. and these other elements, the company’s incident frequency rate droppedfrom a high of 26 to 1.54. The award cites TransAmerican for “‘outstandingachievements and sincere efforts expended in the protection of people, property, resources and the environment.”Company President, Glenn McGinnis, said he is pleased with the award and credits his employees for making it a reality. “Under the leadership of our lossprevention manager, Jay Keys, and with the support and guidance of our consultant Dennis Murphy, the employees of TransAmerican have worked diligently to improve our incident rate through their conscious efforts to strictly abide by established procedures and by watching out for their coworkers. I am also very proud of the fact that as a company last month wesurpassed 1,250,000 safe hours,” said McGinnis.
