Murder is never justified. Not only is murder against the law, it’s alsoagainst one of God’s Ten Commandments which states: Thou shalt not kill.

The killing of Dr. Barnett Slepian two weeks ago is indefensible. Dr.Slepian was a doctor who performed abortions in Amherst, New York.

Mother Theresa used to warn us that abortion cheapens life.

The spirit of murder is over America. I believe that in 1973, the SupremeCourt allowed that spirit to creep into our nation by legalizing abortion.

Last week, a young lady was sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing her newborn baby at a prom. The baby was killed in a bathroom during the promand the girl went back on the dance floor and continued her celebration.

With the 15-year sentence, it was confirmed that with good behavior, the teen-age murderer could be out of jail in three years.

Three years for the murder of an innocent child! Who can argue that the murderer got off pretty cheap? If this same girl had decided on an abortion the day before, it would have gone unreported – no murder, no publicity and, in my mind, no justice.

Dr. Slepian’s murder got national headlines. Thousands mourned his deathand at his funeral, many kind words were said to describe him as a husband and father. His death was recognized as an act of violence by acoward who stalked his victim and shot him through a window while he was in, what he thought, the safety of his home.

I wonder how many people who mourned his death ever thought of the many abortions this so-called man of mercy performed in his life? The pro- choice people defensively said that he also delivered many babies.

I know that abortion is legal. It was declared legal by the same UnitedStates Supreme Court that, many years ago, declared that black people were not human beings.

Yes, I believe in the sanctity of life. The Bible states that God knew eachof us even before we were in our mother’s womb, which I believe. Thewomb, which was once a safe, secure place where babies were nurtured until they were brought into this world, in many cases, is now only a holding place for murder.

Allow me to quote something from an article by Cal Thomas, a syndicated columnist with the Los Angeles Times: “While the murder of Dr. Slepian must be deplored, his family getssympathy because they can be seen. But the unborn are part of the samehuman family and deserve better than being reclassified into something they are not so that “abortion snipers” can pick them off one at a time, while exercising their supposed ‘constitutional rights.'”It seems as though the abortion issue will never go away because God will not allow it to. I pray that as the black people finally gained theirfreedom, so too will the defenseless unborn.
