BOUTTE – Hahnville will look to build on its best offensive performance of the season and break a four-game losing streak when it travels to Mathews to play Central Lafourche Friday night.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.The Tigers gained 282 yards in a 30-22 loss to Thibodaux last Friday.

Hahnville has not won since defeating Sarah Reed in its season-opener and is 0-3 in District 6-5A.

Youth served Hahnville well against Thibodaux. Sophomore quarterbackDawan Landry, making his second start, completed 11 of his 21 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman receiver Mark Young caught fourof the passes for 85 yards and both scores. The Tigers gained 87 yards onthe ground, led by freshman running back Anthony Kenner with 38 yards on 11 carries.

The defense and special teams also got into the act as Shelby Boyle recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. It was the second defensivetouchdown of the year for the Tigers. Kerry Fonseca added a 41-yard fieldgoal. The defense has done its job this year, allowing an average of 16points a game.

The Tigers are the second straight St. Charles Parish team that CentralLafourche has faced. The Trojans fell to Destrehan last Friday, 15-3.Central Lafourche is now 3-2 overall and 2-1 in district play.

Central Lafourche’s offense struggled last week, managing 184 yards in offense and a 27-yard field goal. The Trojans were intercepted once andfumbled once, the latter of which was returned for a score. The defenseallowed Destrehan to run for 308 yards but did not allow a pass completion.

Senior Russell Carlisle is in his first season as the starting quarterback for the Trojans. He will be joined in the backfield by junior running backsDarius Griffin and Torrell Sylvester. Flanker Caudell Collins and tight endJames Duplantis are the receiving threats.

The offensive line is solid, led by returning starters Rowdy Chiasson and Courtney Smith at the tackle spots.

On defense, the Trojans return three starters. Senior defensive end JanCressionie, senior linebacker Travis Douglass and cornerback Chris Lagarde pace a defense that is allowing an average of 17 points per game.

Last year, Rafael Joseph scored twice and the Tiger defense allowed just 72 yards passing as the Tigers defeated the Trojans, 27-17.

Hahnville hosts East St. John next Friday while Central Lafourche travelsto Thibodaux.
