Man fires into apartment after argument

LAPLACE – A 23-year-old man capped an argument by firing a gun repeatedly into an apartment Monday night. One person was injured,according to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.Lt. Michael Tregre reported that Cleveland Duhe, 1105 Lester Court, wasbooked with 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder. Bond was setby 40th Judicial District Judge J. Sterling Snowdy at $1 million.Tregre said Duhe and his alleged victim, Jabarious Eugene, 17, were arguing outside 605 Lester Court when Duhe pulled a .45-caliber handgun.Eugene ran into the apartment, which was already occupied by 10 other people.

Duhe fired repeatedly into the front door, then ran around back and fired repeatedly into the back door before he fled on foot at 5:18 p.m. OnlyEugene, who was struck in the left hand, was injured.

Duhe later turned himself in to authorities. No reason was provided for thedispute.

In another incident, a McComb, Miss., man was nearly drowned by anotherman at Pass Manchac. Randy J. Parker, 43, 258 Alligator Lane, Manchac, ischarged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery, simple battery and criminal trespass.

Tregre reported that Parker was at the camp of Patricia Smith in Manchac on the night of Sept. 29. Louis M. Holmes was helping her pack belongingsas Hurricane Georges threatened.

For reasons unknown Parker struck Holmes in the back of the head with a skillet, threw him outside and into the water, jumped into the water and tried to drown him. Holmes was rescued by witnesses after sustainingswelling to the head and a broken nose.

Parker’s bond was set at $401,050 by Judge Snowdy.

In another incident, Eric Holloway, 29, 2705 Yorktown Drive, LaPlace, was charged with aggravated battery following a fight on Joe Parquet Circle, LaPlace, while picking up his belongings.

Tregre said Holloway, at the residence of Delilah Hicks, had an argument with Hicks, threw a hot pot at her and struck her.

Also, Eddie L. Griffin, 47, 163 Bastan Court, Vacherie (in St. John Parish),was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly pulled a shotgun on a man over a $20 dispute Oct. 4 at 11:30 p.m. He was quickly picked upat River Road and Clark Court.
