RESERVE -The Riverside Academy Rebels were seeking revenge in Reserve Friday night, hosting the Parkview Baptist Eagles, the same team that won last year’s matchup, 36-0.

What the Rebels sought on this Friday night, they received, as Riverside’s wing-T offense ran to victory behind its dominating offensive line. TheRebels piled up 263 rushing yards as they moved to 4-1 on the season with a 35-7 victory over Parkview.

Parkview of Baton Rouge fell to 2-3.

The Riverside rushing attack was led by junior running back Casey Remondet, who rushed 21 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

Remondet first scored on the opening drive of the game, which was an 8- play, 59 yard drive on which Remondet ran to the end zone from 10 yards out. Kaleb Mayes’ made the point after, making the score 7-0.The Eagles would answer back though, scoring only 11 plays later as Joe Labbe scored on a 29-yard run. Labbe, a senior, was converted to runningback due to an injury to starter Brandon Bourgeois, who saw little playing time. Bryson Person kicked the point after to tie the game at 7-7.This would be the last time Parkview saw the end zone.

From here on out the Rebel defense gave its offense very good field position, aiding in the offense’s domination. The Rebel defensive attackwas led by junior linebacker Mike Mohon, who had eight tackles and a fumble recovery. This definitely helped Riverside as its second scoringdrive started at the Eagle 44-yard line. The seven-play drive took 1:02.Senior quarterback Joey Poirrier ran the ball in from 2 yards out with 0:19 left in the half. Head coach Mickey Roussel called a fake P.A.T., andPoirrier threw to Britt Waguespack for the two-point conversion. Thisclever call made the score 15-7.

The second half of play was all Riverside as the defense took over and repeatedly gave the Rebels the ball by creating turnovers. Mike Mohon’sfumble recovery gave Riverside possession from their own 23-yard line on the Rebel’s final “long” drive of the night. The drive lasted 11 plays andwent 77 yards and ended with a 9-yard run by Casey Remondet.

Mayes made the point after and the Rebels led 22-7.

While Remondet and the Rebel offense controlled the first three quarters, senior wide receiver Keith Leblanc controlled the fourth quarter as he scored twice to put the final score at 35-7. Leblanc scored on tworeceptions of 29 and 9 yards for touchdowns. Both were thrown byPoirrier. Leblanc finished the game with five receptions for 98 yards andthe two touchdowns. Poirrier finished with eight completions in 13attempts for 108 yards.
