River Parishes Hospital’s health fair set for Aug. 1

LAPLACE – River Parishes Hospital will have its annual health fair Sat.,Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc’s Msgr. Dennis BergeronFamily Life Center.

Free screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, ENT, spinal, foot, depression, anxiety, vision, fall risk, tympanometry, colorectal cancer and ulcer bacteria will be offered, as well as valuable health information, door prizes and giveaways.

Special guest appearances will be made by the St. John Sugar Queen,International Rice Queen, Bonfire Festival Queen, Mrs. and Miss Andouille,Jazz the Mo Clown, Andre the Talking Ambulance, Robbie and Bernie the Robots of the St. John Sheriff’s Office and Boudreaux and Clotile of theNew Orleans Zephyrs. Also, there will be several fun activities forchildren, including face painting, fingerprinting and photo ID’s by the St.

John Sheriff’s Office and a K-9 demonstration by the St. John Sheriff’sOffice.

One of the highlights of the event will be the Children’s Drawing Contest.

Children between the ages of 6 and 12 may enter by drawing a picture using the theme “River Parishes Hospital – Right here, right at home.”Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners in three categories – 6 and 7, 8 and 9 and 11 and 12. The winners will beannounced at the fair and all entries will be on display.

Entry forms are available in the hospital’s marketing department or may be mailed by calling 653-4247.

To enter, the child simply needs to draw a picture on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper using the theme.

All entries must be mailed to River Parishes Hospital, Marketing Department, 500 Rue de Sante, LaPlace, La., 70068 by Monday, July 27.
