St. Joan of Arc begins year-long self evaluation

LAPLACE – St. Joan of Arc School in LaPlace is beginning a year-longself-evaluation process. The purpose of the study, called SIP -School Improvement Program, is to identify strengths and weaknesses throughout every area of the educational program.

Using this information, the school will develop plans to more effectively prepare its children for the future. The instrument beingused is called “Verifying the Vision,” a program for self-evaluation developed by the NCEA (National Catholic Educators Association).

Assistant principal Larry J. Bourgeois is director of the project,assisted by a coordinating committee. Each member of thecoordinating committee serves as chairperson for one of the five sub-section committees.

Principal Sr. M. Germaine Roussel serves as chairperson of thecoordinating committee itself. The coordinating committee membersand the sub-committees they chair are as follows: Larry J. Bourgeois Jr., school philosophy; Margaret Cerami, school-as-community; Mary Catherine Daigre, school in community; Janet Falgoust, co-chair, the teaching/learning program; Janice Stayton, co-chair, the teaching/learning program; Terri Jacob, organizational services; and Sr. M. Germaine Roussel, coordinating committee.
