Woman killed in Vacherie car wreck Saturday

VACHERIE – A Thibodaux woman died Saturday afternoon in a four-vehicle accident, after which a Vacherie man was charged with negligent homicide and nine counts of negligent injury.

Trooper Bryan Zeringue of Louisiana State Police Troop C reported Glenda B. Kraemer, 47, of Thibodaux, was a passenger in a 1996 Nissan Sentratraveling east on Louisiana Highway 20. The Nissan was being driven bySally B. Tregre, 32, of Vacherie.A 1991 Ford driven by Dennis Emboulas, 37, of Vacherie, was westbound and, Zeringue reported, crossed the center line and struck the Tregre vehicle.

After the initial impact, the Tregre vehicle was then struck by a 1994 Toyota Four-Runner driven by Sherry L. Woods, 25, of Thibodaux. Then, theWoods vehicle was struck by a 1995 Nissan, driven by Jacqueline G. Harry,37, of Vacherie.

Kraemer was pronounced dead at the scene by St. James Parish AssistantCoroner Dr. Roland Waguespack.Tregre sustained serious injuries, and Emboulas sustained moderate injuries, both being transported to Thibodaux Medical Center. Woods andthe five juvenile passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated at St. James Parish Hospital and Thibodaux Medical Center and released.Harry sustained minor injuries and was treated at Thibodaux Medical Center and released.

Emboulas was charged with negligent homicide, driving left of center and nine counts of negligent injury.

Zeringue reported seat belts were in use, blood/alcohol test results are still pending and the accident remains under investigation.
