RESERVE – Lacey Trepagnier and Sarah Weber combined on a three-hitter as St. Charles Catholic defeated East St. John, 7-0, in Metro Leaguesoftball play Wednesday afternoon.

Trepagnier went four innings, allowing two hits while striking out four and walking three. Weber finished up, giving up one hit while walking oneand striking out six.

St. Charles Catholic threatened in each of the first two innings, but EastSt. John starter Jennifer Wright was able to get out of trouble twice withrunners on second and third.

East St. John loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the second ona single to right by Alice Duhe, a walk by Lakenja Patterson and a hit by pitch by Ashley Fallon. But Trepagnier pitched out of the hold by strikingout Qiana Ferdinand and getting Katie Triche to hit back to mound.

St. Charles Catholic got on the scoreboard in the third as Kelly Callahandoubled to left field to lead off the inning and went to third on Jenny Traina’s single to center. Trepagnier followed with a grounder back to themound with Callahan scoring in front of the throw in from first.

Rozi Miller led off the fourth for St. Charles Catholic by drawing a walkand advancing to second base on a wild pitch. Weber then grounded out tosecond with Miller coming around to score as first baseman Tammy Gunter’s throw to third went past the bag.

Tamika Green and Yolanda Linton walked and Koi McGee was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the fourth. Trepagnier then got Gunter to groundback to her, forcing Green at the plate, and got Wright to line into a double play to get out of the inning.

St. Charles Catholic gave itself some breathing room with three runs inthe fifth as Kristen Clement beat out a grounder to short to open the inning. One out later, Joanie Kepler grounded to second. Linton bobbled theball while attempting to tag Clement and threw late to get Kepler at first.

Miller followed with a double into the right-center field gap to score Clement and Kepler. After Miller went to third on a wild pitch and Weberwalked, Monica Arcuri made it 5-0 with a ground out to short.

Traina opened the sixth with a single to left and went to second as the ball got past Ferdinand. After advancing on a wild pitch, Traina scored asClement hit a fly ball to left to make it 6-0. Weber would tack on a run inthe seventh by reaching on an error, stealing second, going to third on a wild pitch and scoring as Callahan reached on an error.

Besides Duhe’s single in the second, Linton had a single in the first and Ferdinand one in the sixth for East St. John.
